Job Scope
Study and develop conceptual designs, prepare detailed engineering solutions, and plan, monitor, and coordinate all assigned modifications and projects in conjunction with project management and end-user teams for a wide range of tasks related to the discipline scope. Act as a key focal point for discipline engineering aspects, reviewing the design and engineering work conducted in-house or subcontracted, ensuring alignment with defined requirements, industry best practices, and contractual agreements.
Key Responsibilities

Project Management:
Act as a technical expert for all matters related to Control systems across assigned projects, ensuring timely provision of efficient and reliable services to solve technical issues in production plants.
Support the efficient and cost-effective delivery of Control systems services. Participate in costing and preparation of budgets for Instrumentation & Control systems engineering projects.
Conduct feasibility studies and comprehensive testing to assess the financial and technical viability of new Control systems and provide recommendations. Develop specifications for Control systems associated with new projects.
Coordinate engineering review and approval of design, equipment, and interface with contractors and vendors.
Ensure Control systems engineering activities are executed according to specifications, within budget, and meet the time schedules while highlighting any non-conformances.
Gather and analyze data to prepare technical recommendations for effective development of specifications and equipment data sheets.
Lead meetings related to all aspects of Control systems engineering for proper interdisciplinary communication, working closely with project teams.
Carry out technical reviews of all areas of work covered under Control systems engineering projects, evaluate requests, and recommend appropriate solutions within the defined project scope. -
Design and Engineering:
Set up and execute assigned engineering activities, such as detailed design, verification, and studies relevant to the discipline.
Prepare design specifications for PLC/DCS Control systems, SCADA systems, and conventional relay control panels.
Participate in technical discussions to resolve problems and provide cost-effective engineering solutions.
Complete detailed engineering work such as system layouts, loop drawings, wiring diagrams, cable schedules, and interface drawings.
Prepare specifications for package items and PLC/DCS functional logic diagrams.
Deliver detailed engineering for DCS/PLC/SCADA/data acquisition systems.
Participate in LOPA analysis and HAZOP meetings.
Issue purchase requisitions and perform technical bid evaluations.
Prepare material take-offs (MTOs) and bills of quantities (BOQs). -
Health, Safety, Environment, and Quality:
Ensure compliance with all relevant quality, health, safety, and environmental management procedures.
Work closely with HSE and Quality teams on process safety and maintaining/updating system documentation.
Participate in project reviews such as risk assessments and HAZOP to assure compliance with standards and contribute to corrective actions. -
Reporting:
Provide input for timely and accurate reports on modifications and projects as required. -
Communication:
Work collaboratively with internal project teams, procurement, and relevant departments.
Liaise with external contractors, vendors, consultants, and service providers. -
Work Environment:
Responsible for the effective execution of Instrumentation & Control systems engineering aspects of assigned projects.
Completed work assignments are subject to supervisory review.
Work independently and/or as part of integrated project teams, investigations, or audit teams.
Requirements

Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree (full-time) in Instrumentation & Control Engineering. -
Minimum Experience:
10 years of engineering experience in consultancy or operating plants (Petrochemical, Oil & Gas, or Fertilizer), with at least 7 years in design for related projects.
Team leadership experience and project management exposure.
Proficiency in English. -
Job-Specific Skills:
- Strong knowledge of Industrial Instrumentation & Control system engineering.
- Familiarity with industrial codes and standards.
- Conceptual, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Expertise in designing and programming DCS/PLC/SCADA control systems and data acquisition systems.
- Experience with system architectures and industrial communication protocols.
- Hands-on programming and experience with DCS/PLC/SCADA FAT and SAT procedures.
- Proficiency in Safety Instrumented Systems (SIS), SIL calculations, and relevant IEC standards.
- TUV certification in SIL assessment and calculations.
- Experience with technical bid evaluations, panel layout drawings, wiring diagrams, cable schedules, and interface diagrams.
- Knowledge of interlocks, functional logic, and fiber optic network communications.
- Understanding of LOPA analysis and HAZOP processes.
- Knowledge of relevant NFPA, ISA, and IEC codes and standards.
- Basic experience with security management systems and CCTV networking.
- Excellent communication and time management skills.
- IT proficiency.
