Key Responsibilities

  • Act as the project representative onboard the installation vessel during night operations, supervising offshore installation activities and ensuring approved procedures and HSE requirements are applied.
  • Maintain effective handover between shifts and provide accurate daily reporting.
  • Apply HSE standards and promote a strong safety culture onboard the installation vessel.
  • Ensure approved procedures are implemented during offshore operations and that the Management of Change process is used for any modification.
  • Supervise offshore operations onboard J-Lay, S-Lay, PLSV and MSV installation vessels.
  • Act as the focal point onboard the vessel and during emergencies in accordance with the HSE Bridging Document.
  • Provide daily reports to the SURF Installation Manager and Deputy.
  • Demonstrate exemplary behaviour regarding H3SEQ rules and ensure requirements are implemented within the role's area of responsibility.
  • Contribute to continuous H3SEQ performance improvement and actively support the deployment of a strong H3SEQ culture.
  • Participate in safety-awareness programmes and initiatives, promoting the project safety culture and ensuring safe and ethical working practices.
  • Participate in preparing offshore procedures and incorporate feedback from previous operations.
  • Follow up all offshore installation activities, including supply and barge activities, equipment transfers, deck operations, MCV connection and testing, subsea umbilical and flexible-line installation, lifting operations, load-out, subsea ROV work, pre-commissioning and testing.
  • Verify that agreed procedures are implemented and that any modifications are controlled through the Management of Change process.
  • Review and confirm the vessel's Daily Progress Report when satisfactory.
  • Communicate in accordance with project procedures, particularly during concurrent activities and SIMOPS, and ensure an effective transition and handover between shifts.
  • Verify that vessel activities comply with the planned schedule and report deviations onshore for consideration and approval.
  • Review and report non-conformances and follow up related corrective and preventive actions.
  • Provide adequate and timely reporting to the main representative onboard the installation vessel.
  • Ensure that relevant traceability tables and the inventory of subsea-installed equipment are maintained onboard.
  • Ensure COMOPS and SIMOPS activities, and any emergency response, are managed in accordance with the agreed Emergency Response Plan.
  • Identify when contractor or supplier technical assistance is required, including support from SPS, umbilical and flexible-product manufacturers.
  • Ensure relevant certificates and checklists are available and, where required, signed in time for transportation, installation and commissioning readiness.
  • Coordinate HIRA Level 2 activities with the vessel offshore team before operations begin.

Requirements

  • Engineer or Offshore Supervisor with at least 15 years of oil and gas experience, particularly in SURF activities.
  • Knowledge of requirements and specifications for offshore operations.
  • Knowledge of Surinamese offshore regulations covering marine operations, environmental requirements and natural resources.
  • Deep knowledge of SIMOPS and HSE rules.
  • Experience supporting a major EPCI project.
  • Ability to identify, analyse and resolve HSE, technical, procurement, transportation, storage, preservation, engineering, construction, quality, schedule and cost issues.
  • Construction background and strong communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively within a team, accept significant responsibilities and support the project's safety and environmental requirements.
  • Sufficient technical understanding of the disciplines involved in the work.
  • Strong organisational skills, a positive attitude and the confidence to raise and defend positions in accordance with contract requirements.
  • Fluent spoken and written English.
Required Offshore Operations Knowledge:
  • Riser pull-in and pull-out operations.
  • Flexible-lay operations.
  • Rigid-pipelay operations.
  • Riser construction, including lazy-wave and steel hybrid riser configurations.
  • Subsea-structure installation.
  • Practical experience onboard rigid-lay vessels, PLSVs and offshore support vessels.
Mandatory Training and Certification:
  • BOSIET, T-BOSIET or FOET, as applicable.
  • Technological Risk Awareness training.
  • Cause Tree Analysis training.
  • Golden Rules training.
  • Valid offshore fitness-to-work certificate, such as OGUK.
  • Seaman's book.
  • CA-EBS OPITO certification.
