Offshore NDT Supervisor

Location: Paramaribo, Suriname
Contract Type: Contract Position
Work Pattern: Rotational offshore - 35 days on / 35 days off
Start Date: February 2027 (Estimated)
End Date: 31st December 2028 (Extension Possible)

Key Responsibilities

  • Act as the focal point for NDT and welding-inspection activities within the project team during the installation phase.
  • Review contractor and supplier documentation, including procedures and Inspection and Test Plans, in coordination with relevant disciplines.
  • Monitor and control implementation of approved procedures, surveillance plans, Inspection and Test Plans, and AUT acceptance criteria.
  • Prepare daily production reports, including comprehensive details of all indications identified by Automated Ultrasonic Testing.
  • Independently assess subcontractor NDT interpretations and challenge any discrepancies identified.
  • Ensure all manual NDT inspections are properly monitored.
  • Review material certificates and ensure calibration-equipment certification files are current, including documentation from vendors and contractors.
  • Ensure work is closely inspected by the contractor's quality-control inspection team.
  • Challenge contractors and sub-suppliers on QA/QC performance and inspection activities, carrying out routine and random inspections each day.
  • Immediately stop and report any anomaly or non-conformity to the Offshore Representative.
  • Attend and participate in daily meetings.
  • Report to the Offshore Representative and support reporting to the Project Manager.
  • Support coordination activities by helping to establish clear priorities and directions for the project team.

  • Promote and enforce the Anti-Corruption Programme.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable requirements, international good practice and local laws throughout contract execution.
  • Seek optimisation and cost savings throughout the project without impairing HSEQ objectives.

Requirements

  • Engineering qualification or equivalent.
  • Approximately 10 to 15 years of relevant professional experience.
  • More than five years of experience in a similar position supervising deepwater offshore operations associated with SURF activities.
  • Participation in a recent deepwater project involving offshore operations.
  • Strong communication and organisational skills, with a positive and collaborative approach.
  • Fluent spoken and written English is required; French language capability is desirable.

Mandatory Technical Requirements

  • ISO 9712 Ultrasonic Testing Level 3 certification, with strong AUT experience including Time of Flight Diffraction.
  • Experience with PipeWizard software is desirable.
  • Strong AUT interpretation experience onboard pipelay vessels or at spool bases.
  • Ability to successfully complete AUT Interpreter qualification training for the Saipem SONUS system.
  • Strong HSE culture.

Mandatory Training

  • BOSIET, T-BOSIET, FOET and HUET.
  • Cause Tree Analysis training.
  • CBSP.
  • Golden Rules training.

Additional Requirements

  • Valid OGUK or equivalent offshore medical, seaman's book and OPITO CA-EBS.
