Job Purpose / Objective
Coordinate the daily activities of the Fire Technician and Fire Department Operations to ensure all emergency response equipment is maintained and ready for any emergency situation. Ensure the Emergency Response Team (ERT) is prepared at all times. Serve as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) on Emergency Preparedness & Response (EPR) related issues.
Key Responsibilities
Emergency Response Team Management & Support- Coordinate the Emergency Response team to ensure minimum loss of life and assets.
- Schedule Emergency Response team training, plan and execute scheduled drills, conduct critiques, and work with the department to initiate improvements.
- Manage the Emergency Response team roster and oversee skills competency of each member to ensure the roster is always current.
- Work with schedulers to address shortfalls in the minimum number of on-shift responders.
- Manage and maintain the operations of the Fire Training Ground as an efficient venue for ERT skills development.
- Coordinate the Emergency Response team and act as the Incident Commander for any emergency at the facility.
- Review and update the Emergency Preparedness & Response Procedure (EPRP) to ensure it is current and aligned with applicable requirements.
- Participate in standardization of response methods across all shifts and ensure understanding of relevant NFPA standards.
- Engage in JSAs, open flame hot work, fire box inspections, Lock Tag & Try partial breakage, and manage confined space entry permits.
- Assist in writing, revising, and implementing approved work practices or SOPs for fire department operations.
- Supervise on-shift fire and safety coordinators and Fire Technicians, set daily tasks, and guide performance to meet expectations.
- Conduct scheduled inspections, testing, and maintenance activities on equipment; maintain records and oversee the repair/replacement process for defective equipment; enter maintenance requests as needed.
- Collect samples and analyze critical safety items (e.g., foam stock, breathing air, eye-wash stations) to ensure proper compliance.
- Manage the fire extinguisher and breathing air equipment inspection program for the facility.
- Coordinate and supervise third-party contractor activities on-site for extinguisher and breathing air maintenance.
- Supply and maintain breathing air and related equipment for the facility (including washing, drying, bagging masks, refilling bottles, and maintaining cascade systems).
- Ensure adequate on-site stock levels of firefighting and emergency response consumables.
- Identify opportunities for continuous improvement of departmental systems, policies, processes, and practices in line with leading international standards.
- Provide input for the development of section systems, policies, and procedures to meet business requirements.
- Implement all section policies, processes, procedures, and instructions to ensure controlled and consistent work.
- Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and relevant QHSSE procedures and controls to guarantee employee safety and high-quality service delivery.
- Prepare timely and accurate reports to meet departmental requirements and standards.
- Contribute to the development of Qatari employees.
Requirements
Education- Required: Diploma in Fire Science, Paramedic, Occupational Safety, or any related discipline.
- Preferred: Bachelor's degree in Fire Science, Paramedic, Occupational Safety, or related field.
- Required: 5-7 years of relevant experience in Emergency Response.
- Preferred: Experience in Industrial Firefighting.
- Fire Academy certification.
- Industrial Firefighting experience.
- National Incident Management System (NIMS) certification.
- Advanced Incident Command System (ICS) courses (minimum ICS-100 / ICS-200).
- Training in confined space, high-angle, and technical rope rescue.
- HAZMAT training.
- First aid training including CPR and Basic Life Support (BLS).
- Required: English - proficient
- Preferred: Arabic - working knowledge
