Overview
A major international energy operator is seeking a Data Quantum Engineer to support a large-scale upstream LNG development project. The role focuses on ensuring high-quality engineering data management, supporting digital transformation initiatives, and enabling structured, consistent, and reliable project data across all phases through to operations handover.
This role acts as a key interface between project teams, EPC contractors, and internal digital and information management stakeholders, ensuring data integrity and alignment with corporate digital strategy and standards.
Key Responsibilities
Engineering Data Management
- Ensure data availability, completeness, integrity, consistency, and reliability across all project phases
- Maintain high-quality, unique engineering data for operational and long-term asset use
- Ensure contractor compliance with company specifications and data requirements
- Define and validate data management procedures, controls, KPIs, and audit processes
- Supervise data exchange, review, and approval workflows with contractors, subcontractors, and vendors
- Support discipline teams in gathering and structuring technical data throughout project execution
- Manage transfer of engineering databases across project phases
- Ensure integration of project data into corporate technical information systems
- Oversee publication and usage of asset data within project data environments
Systems, Tools, and Digital Environment
- Supervise data publication and ensure correct use of project data platforms
- Ensure adherence to data governance rules across all stakeholders
- Verify compatibility of contractor systems with company data exchange requirements
- Support procurement and implementation of data management tools and systems
- Participate in testing, deployment, and rollout of digital platforms
- Ensure proper data backup, security, and protection processes are applied
User Support and Training
- Promote use of data standards such as CFIHOS and ISO frameworks
- Provide training and support to internal and external users
- Collaborate with corporate digital and data teams to share best practices and improvements
- Support document controllers and engineering teams across multiple locations
- Provide guidance on engineering data systems and document management tools
Context
This role supports a major upstream LNG development project involving complex engineering scopes, EPC contractors, and multiple international stakeholders. The focus is on ensuring robust digital engineering data to support project execution, operations readiness, and long-term asset management.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Information Systems, Project Management, or related field
- Certification in data or document management is an advantage
- 5 to 7 years of experience in the Oil and Gas industry, preferably in lifecycle information or data management
- Strong knowledge of engineering data systems and IT environments
- Experience with data standards such as CFIHOS, ISO 8000, or ISO 9000
- Familiarity with engineering authoring tools (e.g. SP PID, SPEL, SPI, SP3D, AVEVA, CAD tools)
- Experience with document management systems and CMMS platforms
- Advanced MS Office and data handling skills
- Ability to manage high data volumes under tight deadlines
- Strong communication, coordination, and stakeholder management skills
- Strong coaching and training capability
- Fluent in English; Portuguese and French are an advantage
