Senior Offshore Pipeline Engineer

Position Summary
We are seeking an experienced Senior Offshore Pipeline Engineer to support major offshore oil and gas developments across Concept, FEED, and Detailed Design phases.
The successful candidate will provide specialist engineering expertise covering subsea pipelines, risers, crossings, installation engineering, pipeline protection, and associated offshore infrastructure. You will work within a multidisciplinary engineering environment, providing technical leadership while coordinating closely with project teams, clients, contractors, and vendors.
This position is particularly suited to an experienced pipeline engineer with a strong combination of offshore pipeline design, analysis, installation engineering, and project execution experience.
Key Responsibilities
Offshore Pipeline Engineering
- Execute and review offshore pipeline engineering activities for Concept, FEED, and Detailed Design projects
- Prepare offshore pipeline Basis of Design documentation
- Perform pipeline route selection and optimisation studies
- Undertake pipeline coating selection studies
- Perform pipeline wall thickness calculations in accordance with applicable international standards
- Carry out on-bottom stability assessments and associated engineering studies
- Perform cathodic protection design for offshore pipelines
- Conduct upheaval buckling and lateral buckling assessments
- Perform riser flexibility, stress, VIV, and fatigue assessments
- Conduct pipeline crossing analysis and develop crossing support solutions
- Perform on-bottom roughness assessments
- Support pipeline and riser protection studies
- Perform shore-pull and shore-crossing engineering studies
- Support design and installation engineering for subsea cables
- Provide engineering input for high-pressure gas pipelines and associated subsea valves
Installation Engineering
- Develop and review pipeline laying and riser installation studies
- Provide technical guidance to offshore installation contractors
- Review installation methodologies, procedures, and associated engineering calculations
- Support offshore construction and installation activities throughout project execution
- Identify installation risks and recommend technically sound mitigation measures
- Provide engineering support for constructability and installation-related technical queries
Surveys & Site Data
- Prepare Scope of Work documentation for pre-engineering surveys
- Support and verify offshore field survey activities against project specifications
- Review geophysical and geotechnical survey reports
- Interpret survey information and incorporate findings into pipeline routing and design decisions
Engineering Deliverables
Prepare and review offshore pipeline engineering drawings and documentation, including:
- Field layout drawings
- Pipeline alignment sheets
- Riser general arrangement drawings
- Pipeline crossing drawings
- Platform and shore approach drawings
- Shore crossing drawings
- Anode detail drawings
- Material and construction specifications
- Engineering reports and technical studies
Procurement & Construction Support
- Prepare material requisitions and associated technical documentation
- Perform technical bid evaluations
- Support preparation of purchase requisitions
- Review vendor technical documentation
- Prepare pipeline material and construction cost estimates
- Provide technical support during procurement, fabrication, construction, and installation
- Support preparation of EPC tender packages and associated engineering documentation
Project Execution & Coordination
- Work closely with Lead Engineers, Engineers, and Designers to ensure successful delivery of assigned scopes
- Coordinate with multiple engineering disciplines to resolve interfaces and maintain project alignment
- Provide technical guidance and mentoring to engineers
- Review project tender documentation and identify offshore pipeline engineering requirements
- Prepare engineering man-hour estimates and execution methodologies for Concept, FEED, and Detailed Design scopes
- Participate in technical meetings with clients, project managers, contractors, and discipline leads
- Prepare technical reports, engineering assessments, studies, and project documentation
- Support resolution of technical and project execution issues within agreed schedules
Quality & HSE
- Execute engineering activities in accordance with the organisation's Quality Management System and applicable project quality procedures
- Ensure engineering deliverables comply with applicable international codes, standards, specifications, and project requirements
- Promote safe engineering practices and incorporate HSE considerations throughout design and project execution
- Identify design and installation risks and support implementation of appropriate engineering controls
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, or a closely related discipline
- Minimum 10 years of offshore pipeline engineering and design experience
- Strong experience across Concept, FEED, and Detailed Design projects
- Proven experience within an engineering consultancy, EPC, or EPCM environment
- Strong offshore pipeline and subsea engineering background
- Experience coordinating multidisciplinary engineering interfaces
- Strong understanding and practical application of relevant international offshore pipeline codes and standards
- Experience with pipeline stability, buckling, stress, fatigue, crossing, protection, and installation engineering
- Experience with geophysical and geotechnical survey information related to offshore pipeline design
- Knowledge of subsea pipeline materials, coatings, cathodic protection, and construction requirements
- Experience providing procurement and construction engineering support
- Strong understanding of wave mechanics and structural dynamics as applied to offshore pipeline engineering
- Ability to independently execute technically complex engineering activities with minimal supervision
- Strong technical report-writing and documentation skills
- Excellent written and spoken English
- Strong communication, coordination, and problem-solving abilities
- Ability to manage competing priorities and deliver engineering work within demanding project schedules
- Flexibility to undertake project assignments at other offices or locations when required

Experience with advanced finite element analysis and specialist offshore installation engineering tools is highly advantageous.
