Construction Superintendent (Instrumentation)

Location: Qatar Onshore - Doha & Ras Laffan
Contract Type: 36 Months

Job Purpose

Provide front line safety and technical leadership, ensuring safe, effective, and efficient execution of Instrumentation installation activities in accordance with the project schedule and compliance with safety, quality, and technical policies, procedures, and standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide visible safety leadership, establishing a culture of care for people and a safety-first approach.
  • Ensure timely review and comment of related E&I technical and project non-technical documents submitted by the contractor.
  • Ensure all activities comply with company and contractually defined policies, regulations, and standards.
  • Apply contractual acumen when engaging with contractors on schedule, technical, and cost issues.
  • Establish and maintain effective relationships and open communications with contractor and company functional teams (safety, quality, engineering, business).
  • Attend activity planning and risk assessment meetings, assisting the contractor in identifying schedule mitigations and improvements.
  • Ensure safety processes and standards are maintained by assuring the contractor completes daily and weekly walk-throughs of construction areas.
  • Attend onsite workface planning and safety meetings and toolbox talks to ensure clear understanding of planned activities.
  • Assure project schedule compliance by working collaboratively with the contractor to identify construction constraints and mitigation actions.
  • Review contractors' daily, weekly, and monthly reports, analyzing performance and verifying progress and status.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Sciences or Engineering.
  • Minimum 8 years' experience with large projects in construction-related disciplines (e.g., construction, installation, fabrication, execution, completion, hook-up) in the Oil & Gas industry.
  • At least 1 year of experience in a supervisory role, including acting roles or oversight of service/vendor personnel.
  • IT literacy: proficiency in Word, Excel, PDF, and skills to support reporting, reviewing, and communication requirements.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to read and translate approved-for-construction drawings.
  • Ability to use (read) Navisworks (3D model).
  • Ability to prepare, approve, and/or verify instrument installation plans.
  • Experience working within document control systems, reviewing, consolidating, and approving technical and project documents.
  • Ability to read and translate Primavera schedules.
  • Experience with advanced work packing systems.
  • Extensive experience in instrumentation construction, installation, hook-up, and pre-commissioning methods, preferably in major LNG projects.
  • Ability to translate instrument design standards, specifications, codes, and safety criteria specific to onshore LNG facilities and utility systems.
  • Experience with instrument equipment including ICSS and related telecom and other ELICS systems, and familiarity with relevant installation construction processes and industry codes.
