Cloud Data Platform Engineer

About the Role
Join a team of data enthusiasts passionate about developing platform solutions that enable data-driven decisions across a leading green energy organisation. You'll perform both development and internal support tasks, helping to evolve, develop, and maintain a cloud-based Data Lake infrastructure that facilitates advanced data analytics and machine learning throughout the business.
Key Responsibilities
- Continuously improve, monitor, maintain, and extend elements of the Data Ecosystem infrastructure in the cloud, such as storage, event queues, and databases.
- Ensure the Data Ecosystem is secure, stable, cost-effective, and scalable, while guiding users to optimise their use of services.
- Collaborate with architects to set guidelines and standards for the Data Ecosystem.
- Troubleshoot support tickets and incidents reported by data engineers related to the platform, assisting their success and deliveries.
- Build and maintain pipelines to provision technical products using Infrastructure as Code.
Requirements
- Experience with Kubernetes, Docker, relational databases (including modelling and performance tuning), private networking, and cloud resource management (preferably Azure).
- Experience with automation, version control, DevOps, Infrastructure as Code, and CI/CD tools (such as Azure DevOps, GitHub, GitHub Actions, Terraform).
- Proficiency in scripting languages (e.g., Bash, PowerShell, Azure CLI). Software development experience, preferably with Python, is a significant plus.
- Solid understanding of Data Engineering practices, including data analytics, data processing tools, ETL, and ELT.
- Strong collaboration and communication skills, with an ability to clearly document and share work through meetings, comments, chats, and pull requests.
