Working Location: Lulea, Sweden

Assignment Type: Annually Renewable Contract

Residential/Rotation: 3 weeks in office/site, 1 week working remotely, on rotation. Working 5 days per week, Monday to Friday.

Job Description

As a Quantity Surveyor, you will be responsible for managing all aspects of the contractual and financial side of construction projects. This includes cost estimating, cost planning, supporting contract administration, value engineering, and supporting in reviewing and evaluating contractors and sub-contractors work and performance. Your role is pivotal in ensuring that the project is completed within its projected budget while maintaining the highest standards of quality.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support Contract Administration: Provide support in preparation of tender documentation, contracts, budgets, and counterproposals. Provide support to the Contract Manager with administration of project contracts, ensuring compliance and supporting in managing any disputes or changes or applications for payment.
  • Cost Estimation and Budgeting: Work closely with Cost Control disciplines to review and prepare thorough cost estimates for the project, including materials, labour, and equipment. Monitor contract expenditures and ensure cost control and other procedures are complied with. Support review of invoices including checking of substantiation/supporting documentation (progress claimed, timesheets, third party invoices, cost plus components, completion certificates, etc.).
  • Financial Reporting: Assist in preparation of detailed cost reports, including progress reports, cost forecasts, and final accounts. Provide input into the tracking and reporting on contract cash flows and financial status.
  • Risk Management: Identify potential financial or contractual risks and propose mitigation strategies. Undertake regular work front visits to review progress claimed, conduct remeasurements, ensure adherence to the contract terms, and validate costs.
  • Communication and Liaison: Collaborate with Contract Managers, Project Managers, Construction Managers, Engineers, Cost Controllers, and other stakeholders to ensure seamless project delivery.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Quantity Surveying, Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years' experience as a Quantity Surveyor, preferably with a focus on large scale EPCM projects.
  • Proven experience working on construction projects.
  • Strong knowledge of construction methods of measurement, cost estimation, financial management, and contract law.
  • Proficiency in relevant software such as Microsoft Office Suite. Ability to read and extract data from DWG files and other technical drawings.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills.
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work effectively in a high-pressure environment and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Experience working in Sweden and knowledge of the AMA system (Allman Material och Arbetsbeskrivning / General Material and Work Descriptions).
