Job Description
Join an exciting opportunity as a Claims Manager, responsible for proactively identifying, managing, and resolving high value, high-risk claims and disputes at the earliest viable opportunity and at the lowest overall cost. You will work with a focus on protecting the company's commercial and market reputation throughout all settlement strategies.
Key Responsibilities
Claims Strategy
- Lead the assessment, development, and implementation of claim strategies in close collaboration with Engineering, Asset Management, Commercial, Legal, Insurance, and Operations.
- Recommend and drive successful implementation of claim strategies in full alignment with internal stakeholders.
- Present strategic updates and recommendations to internal decision-making bodies, ensuring transparency and alignment throughout the claim's lifecycle.
- Analyze each claim from commercial, legal, technical, and supplier relationship perspectives to determine the most effective resolution path.
- Hold overall responsibility for managing high value, high impact claims, including warranty claims, operational claims, and insurance claims.
Stakeholder Alignment and Dispute Resolution
- Engage with external and internal legal advisors, insurance experts, and third-party consultants on claims with significant contractual or legal implications, including arbitration or adjudication processes.
- Advise site teams on claim status, evolving situations, and recommended strategies to prevent or resolve potential disputes.
- Participate in the resolution of claims and disputes involving clients, contractors, subcontractors, and suppliers as required.
Claims Monitoring, Reporting and Governance
- Monitor the status of all O&M claims and prepare high-quality periodic management reports, enabling well-informed decision making.
- Ensure all project correspondence is reviewed, responded to, and tracked for contract administration and claims preparation purposes.
- Maintain a high standard of contract administration for all claim-related agreements, identifying risks and challenges requiring internal mitigation.
- Ensure compliance with company policies related to claims management and adherence to broader business governance processes.
Operational & Cross Functional Support
- Support Commercial Managers in Operations with miscellaneous supplier claims, both incoming and outgoing.
- Provide ad hoc commercial support on miscellaneous topics affecting claims, contractual interpretation, or dispute avoidance.
Compliance and Governance
- Ensure compliance with company policies on claims management and adherence to relevant business governance processes.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Head of Warranty & Claims Management.
Requirements
- Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in renewables, construction, or oil & gas.
- Several years' experience specifically as a Contracts and/or Claims Manager.
- Experience managing contractual, operational, warranty, and insurance claims, with familiarity in insurance policies and claims processes.
- Experience working in multicultural, cross-functional environments.
Technical and Professional Competencies
- Strong knowledge of contract law, commercial agreements, claims preparation, and litigation/arbitration processes.
- Ability to interpret complex contract wording and identify key contractual risks or inconsistencies.
- Proven experience managing external legal counsel, insurance experts, and third-party consultants.
- Strong analytical and negotiation skills with the ability to develop innovative resolution strategies.
- Excellent communication skills in English (verbal and written).
- Ability to build strong, high integrity relationships with internal teams, contractors, suppliers, external partners, and authorities.
- A collaborative team player capable of influencing across a wide network of stakeholders.
Education
- Graduate degree in Engineering, Law, Project Management, Contract Management, or another relevant discipline.
- Additional training or qualifications in insurance, claims, or risk management are considered an asset.
