Subsea Commissioning and Baseline Coordinator

Missions / Service Dimensions
Under the responsibility of the Subsea Operations Manager, the job holder shall, in the performance of their Subsea Commissioning and Baseline Coordinator responsibilities, contribute to the:
- Development, implementation and start-up of the subsea systems.
- Follow-up of the detailed engineering, fabrication, factory testing, integration testing, installation in the plant.
- Coordination of subsea equipment tests, commissioning and start-up activities through all subsea facilities.
- Follow-up of subsea interventions (including Permit to Work), as subsea engineer on the FPSO during start-up and operational phase.
- Preparation and execution of the subsea maintenance and inspection carried out by subsea MIEC contractor.
- Coordination of the subsea maintenance and inspection baseline.
The position is part of the Field Operations team, working in close collaboration with inspection and maintenance teams, with a strong interface with SPS, UFR and FPSO packages, commissioning and start-up teams, and technical specialists.
The service is based in Paris (France), with frequent missions to Europe (Spain, Norway, Italy, Sardegna, and potentially other places in Europe), the US (Houston), and Asia (Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia). End 2027 / early 2028, the position will evolve on a rotation basis on the FPSO for final integration, commissioning, hook-up and start-up.
Activities
HSE Attitude / Accountabilities
The service holder is:
- Accountable for demonstrating exemplary behavior regarding HSSE rules and requirements and for implementing HSE rules within their area of responsibility.
- Responsible for promoting a high level HSE culture during relations with stakeholders.
- Required to attend mandatory HSE trainings, refresher/expired trainings and apply them on site, ensuring team and vendor compliance.
The service holder acts as the Field Operations representative for the development, implementation and start-up of the subsea equipment including Xmas trees, production manifolds, WAG injection manifolds, FLETs, ILTs, and related systems.
As such, the job holder shall:
- Coordinate the follow-up of each equipment development and testing progress status.
- Follow up the status of punch lists resulting from testing campaigns.
- Ensure that operational requirements and specifications are fulfilled throughout the integration program.
- Participate in testing and integration programs at contractor premises (FAT, eFAT, SIT, etc.) and on site up to commissioning and start-up phase in-country.
- Ensure that all integrated testing programs with FPSO and subsea contractors are done according to specifications and interface agreements.
- Ensure that functional requirements and operability regarding the subsea equipment are satisfied, according to the Basis of Design.
- Coordinate the subsea inspection and maintenance baseline.
The service holder will bring Operations inputs into various pre-Operation activities, including but not limited to:
- Ensuring that subsea operating principles, functional requirements and operational needs are well captured and fulfilled during the tests and integration program.
- Identifying focus areas and resolving technical issues.
- Proposing improvements, as deemed relevant, in line with the subsea operating strategy.
- Witnessing on behalf of Field Operations the FAT, eFAT, SIT, IFAT of the selected SPS items at the various SPS factories and raising punch items as necessary.
- Ensuring that all testing and potential punch lists are recorded and managed in the selected completion system.
- Ensuring that the handover system is correctly followed between the various stakeholders (SPS and UFR packages, commissioning and Field Operations teams) and punch list items are closed.
- Participating in the writing of subsea commissioning procedures and subsea operation phase procedures.
- Developing and providing relevant trainings to O and M contractor production engineers and operating personnel.
- Following up subsea systems commissioning and start-up.
- Working closely with the companys inspection and maintenance team and subcontractors to support the development of maintenance strategies, procedures and spare parts lists for the various subsea control systems and associated hardware.
Providing subsea operation engineering services during towing, hook-up, commissioning and start-up phase, the provider shall:
- Be responsible for performing the engineering and the execution of the SPS items commissioning under the supervision of the Subsea Operations Manager (developing procedures, preparing tools, consumables, special tools, spare parts, etc.).
- Be responsible for performing the start-up of the subsea installations under the supervision of the Subsea Operations Manager and with the assistance of the well performance team.
- Act as the focal point between the O and M contractor and the operating company for all activities related to subsea equipment.
- Coordinate subsea operations between all stakeholders (company, O and M contractor, vessel intervention).
- Define and prepare with onshore support the intervention programs and procedures.
- Support the companys Offshore Field Manager (also RSES) in activities related to production performance.
- Act as the Operating Authority for all subsea operations covered by Permit to Work.
Context and Environment
The activity takes place in the context of the execution phase of a major project in Suriname. The project team is a multidisciplinary group that coordinates studies on deep and shallow water discoveries in offshore Suriname.
The technical challenges the project will face include reservoir development and management, FPSO, and subsea production and injection systems.
The Suriname team will develop the project with the objectives of maximizing economic results by optimizing reserves and schedule, reducing costs and greenhouse gas emissions, while maintaining the technical quality of the installations, with high H3SE requirements and focus.
Qualifications and Experience Required
- Engineering degree or equivalent.
- Minimum of 15+ years experience in oil and gas projects.
- Minimum of 10+ years familiarity with oil and gas equipment testing and commissioning.
- Experience with subsea production equipment, and corresponding risks from a technical and practical standpoint.
- Experience of subsea contractors in project execution or operations.
- Experience of commissioning database management and tools.
- Strong soft skills in organization, method and communication.
- Excellent knowledge of HSE and Environment Management systems.
- Fluent in English.
