QC Inspector (Instrument)

Working Location: Mesaieed, Qatar
Contract Type: Contract role until 30 September 2030
Work Schedule: 6 days per week

Key Responsibilities

  • Implement the elements of the management system applicable to your function.
  • Take responsibility for safety and proactively participate in all safety matters affecting the construction of the project.
  • Prevent pollution to the environment during the project.
  • Coordinate inspection and test requirements on behalf of the organization.
  • Familiarize yourself with project and discipline-specific inspection documentation to ensure understanding of contract requirements.
  • Apply knowledge of international Codes, Standards and Regulations (e.g. QCS, NEC, IEC, IEEE, NFPA 70, etc.).
  • Implement quality inspection procedures on construction activities, suppliers, and subcontractors to ensure compliance with project specifications.
  • Ensure documentation generated by inspections, tests, surveillance, and surveys meets the requirements of the Project Quality Plan, ITPs, and project requirements.
  • Complete relevant forms and prepare reports on inspections and tests for inclusion in inspection records.
  • Communicate effectively with contractors, third parties, and end users at your level.
  • Ensure all equipment used for measuring and testing is calibrated and records are available.
  • Assist construction personnel in developing required quality documentation, including method statements, work procedures, inspection and test plans, and inspection and test records.
  • Assist construction personnel in identifying problems and nonconformances, and support corrective and preventive actions.
  • Perform and monitor technical inspections during Site/Factory Acceptance Tests for main electrical components such as Power, Distribution and Measurement Transformers, MV and LV Switchgears, Power and Telecommunication/Instrumentation Cables, MCCBs, PLC, MCC, LCC panels.
  • Liaise with other Field Supervisors and Contractors to ensure SATs and E&I Tests are planned and performed.
  • Implement QC activities for Electrical and Instrumentation works on site. Review Inspection & Test Plans, Checklists, and RFIs. Conduct material receiving inspections and check installation of electrical equipment and instruments as per correct hook-up drawings, verifying red-line mark-ups as necessary.
  • Experience in HV/LV cable laying standards, producing punch lists, commissioning of electrical equipment, and witnessing loop checking.

Requirements

  • Degree and/or diploma in Electrical, Electronic, or Instrumentation engineering with experience in quality control in a multi-discipline construction and commissioning environment.
  • Preferably formal training in QC and membership with a recognized chartered or other professional institution.
  • 10 years' experience in a similar position; experience in GCC is desirable.
  • Sound working knowledge of QC aspects and various testing requirements related to installation, testing, and commissioning of electrical and instrumentation equipment in oil/gas and petrochemical plants, pipelines, tank farms, or related construction projects.
  • Ability to work well with contractor personnel and colleagues at all levels in a multidisciplinary, multicultural environment.
