QC Inspector (Civil-Road)

Location: Mesaieed
Contract Type: Contract role until 30/09/2030
Work Schedule: 6 days per week

Key Responsibilities

  • Implement the elements of the management system applicable to your function.
  • Ensure your own safety and the safety of others who may be affected by business activities, and proactively participate in all safety matters affecting the construction of the project.
  • Prevent pollution to the environment during project activities.
  • Coordinate inspection and test requirements on behalf of the client.
  • Familiarize yourself with project and discipline-specific inspection documentation to ensure understanding of contract requirements.
  • Be familiar with international codes, standards, and regulations (e.g., QCS, ACI, AISC, Shell DEP).
  • Implement quality inspection procedures on construction activities, suppliers, and subcontractors to ensure compliance with project specifications.
  • Ensure documentation generated by inspections, tests, surveillance, and surveys meets project quality plan and requirements.
  • Complete relevant forms and prepare reports on inspections and tests for inclusion in inspection records.
  • Communicate effectively with contractors, third parties, and end users at your level.
  • Ensure all equipment used for measuring and testing is calibrated and records are available.
  • Assist construction personnel in developing required quality documentation, including method statements, work procedures, inspection and test plans, and records.
  • Assist construction personnel in identifying problems and nonconformances, and propose corrective and preventive actions.
  • Liaise with other field supervisors and contractors to stay informed of planned and completed construction works, ensuring civil tests are planned and performed.
  • Assist quality engineers in inspecting and reviewing quality documents related to concrete casting, steel fixing, anchor bolts, grouting, steel structure erection, block works, soil and excavation, building, architectural, HVAC, and material-receiving activities.
  • Monitor contractor's quality procedures implementation and QA/QC activities for civil works.
  • Ensure all civil activities are performed according to project requirements and that tests and reports are prepared, approved, and included in documentation packages.
  • Witness site and laboratory tests related to civil activities.
  • Review and monitor that materials and equipment are used in accordance with specifications.
  • Carry out random checks on receiving-inspection of certified batch plants, mixers, lifting gears, etc.
  • Check delivery documents against purchase orders, specifications, and material certificates.
  • Reject any material not meeting specification or not bearing authentic material certificate.
  • Carry out random dimensional checks on materials.
  • Follow up on corrective actions to close out non-conformances.
  • Monitor trends of non-compliance to requirements and provide feedback on contractor's performance.
  • Initiate surveillance and non-conformance reports for QC engineer's approval.

Requirements

  • Degree and/or diploma in Civil, Structural, Architecture, Geological, or equivalent, with experience in quality control in a multi-discipline construction environment.
  • Preferably formal training in QC and membership with a recognized chartered or other professional institution.
  • 10 years of experience for graduate engineers or 15 years for diploma holders in a similar position in the Oil & Gas sector. Experience in GCC is desirable.
  • Sound working knowledge of QC aspects and various testing requirements related to major oil & gas/petrochemical projects, including tank farms, pipelines, infrastructure, and building construction.
  • Ability to work well with contractor personnel and colleagues at all levels in multidisciplinary and multicultural environments.
  • Experience with civil early work, survey work, geotechnical investigation, batching plant, fill material, building, architectural, HVAC, and other site civil works for tankage, pipeline, and infrastructure/road projects.
