Senior Project Manager (Onshore Pipelines)

Location: Oslo, Norway
Assignment Type: Residential
Contract Length: Initial short term assignment - 6 month contract

Role Context

Provides direction and project management to ensure project completion in accordance with contractual obligations. Defines project goals and devises methods to accomplish them; develops in-depth knowledge of customer objectives, contract terms, and corporate policies. Plans, organizes, manages, and controls projects with the established policies, procedures, systems, and requirements approved by the client. Supervises project personnel through subordinate leaders. Project managers will exhibit leadership skills necessary to achieve project goals.

Key Responsibilities

  • Understand commercial and legal risks in the contract, prepare and manage mitigation plans.
  • Identify potential risks or new risks as the project progresses and effectively develop risk mitigation, contingency, and resolution plans.
  • Follow risk management procedures.
  • Maintain a detailed risk register that stays current and is tracked & communicated on a regular basis (at least monthly).
  • Utilize risk register items as the basis for any project contingency budget.
  • Identify and understand the customer's key drivers (KPIs).
  • Manage customer representatives and other significant stakeholders.
  • Effectively communicate and take a leadership role in preparing and presenting proposals and reports to staff and management.
  • Implement clear communication protocols, processes, and tools for the project team.
  • Clearly communicate project requirements, contractual requirements, customer expectations, KPIs, and project status with the project team.
  • Develop and review Project Execution Plans covering all aspects of the scope.
  • Apply lessons learned as inputs to planning the project execution.
  • Manage execution, coordination, and implement regular reviews/controls to track project progress.
  • Demonstrate a good understanding of Project Control Reports, identify problem areas, and implement recovery plans.
  • Ensure methodologies, processes, tools, and systems are used throughout the project and compliance requirements are met.
  • Apply knowledge of all aspects of a project (engineering, procurement, quality control, etc.) to oversee the successful execution of the project plan.
  • Ensure design team is aware of and complying with customer Basis of Design and applicable codes and regulations.
  • Interpret and understand key elements of the project schedule and resource plan.
  • Incorporate Value Creation and Sustainable Solutions objectives into the project plan, measure and deliver to objectives.
  • Demonstrate experience in successful workshare execution.
  • Work with self-initiated interaction with supervisor and self-initiated technical guidance. Influence over duties. Receive administrative direction based on project and organization policies and objectives. Work is reviewed to ensure conformity with project directives, policy, and for coordination of other departments.

Requirements

  • Experience of FEED/Detailed Design and EPC projects.
  • Demonstrated project management experience leading medium and large projects with medium and high risk elements; EPCM, EPC including site assignments; Multi-Cultural / Multi-National environments.
  • Professional registration in local jurisdiction; Certified Project Management Professional by a globally recognized project management organization (IPMA, APM, PMI, AIPM).
  • Knowledge of other engineering disciplines.
  • Knowledge of onshore pipelines.
  • Knowledge of international equipment specifications and codes.
  • Knowledge of standard international specifications and codes.
  • Knowledge of Safety and Quality procedures.
  • Typically Bachelor's Degree in Engineering. Chartered Status preferred. Related experience working for engineering/client organisations in the Oil and Gas Industry.
