Location: Paramaribo, Suriname
Contract Type: Contract Position (Rotational: 6 weeks on, 3 weeks off)
Work Schedule: 7 days per week, 8 hours per day

Job Description

The role involves preparing tenders, evaluating received bids with internal stakeholders, negotiating with bidders, and finalizing/issuing contracts and purchase orders in compliance with all relevant rules and regulations. The position requires leading cross-functional teams throughout the end-to-end sourcing process.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement procurement and contracting strategies supporting offshore drilling and marine operations.
  • Recommend contracting models that balance operational requirements, cost optimization, and risk management.
  • Support long-term procurement planning for drilling campaigns and logistics activities.
  • Identify opportunities for commercial improvement and value creation.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant rules, policies, and regulations, including tax and customs requirements.
  • Deliver quality, cost-effective, and timely contracts and purchase orders to technical teams, responding efficiently to operational changes and breakdowns.
  • Participate in optimizing the economic performance of operations.
  • Contribute to the definition and implementation of contract and procurement strategies.
  • Prepare and conduct calls for tenders efficiently to meet operational schedules and budgets.
  • Plan and perform negotiations with suppliers to drive cost efficiencies.
  • Prepare and present cases to relevant contract committees and boards as required.
  • Ensure implementation of global frame contracts and negotiate local frame contracts as necessary.
  • Promote technical and commercial optimization in contract/procurement strategies.
  • Coordinate interactions between multiple stakeholders on contract and procurement matters.
  • Ensure proper administration, filing, and updating of all documents in procurement and ERP systems and collaborative platforms.
  • Facilitate effective Supplier Relationship Management, including establishing KPIs with relevant suppliers.
  • Contribute to supplier prequalification processes and maintain supplier databases with attention to risk management.
  • Organize supplier quality management and performance monitoring for key suppliers, ensuring lessons learned are implemented.
  • Conduct market intelligence activities to ensure proper benchmarks for related categories.
  • Set a personal example in adherence to HSE procedures and promote a safe working environment.
  • Ensure HSE and integrity policies are incorporated into contracts, purchase orders, and procedures.
  • Provide expertise during management of emergency situations related to supply chain and contract/procurement activities.
  • Attend appropriate HSE training and contribute to team safety initiatives.

Requirements

  • Master's degree in procurement discipline or equivalent.
  • Advanced level in contract writing and negotiation.
  • Good working knowledge of procurement and ERP systems and collaborative platforms.
  • 7-10 years of professional experience in contracts within the oil and gas industry.
  • Relevant experience in contracting rigs, drilling and wells services, and marine logistics services strongly preferred.
  • Proven abilities in planning, organizing, coordination, basic management, project management, problem-solving, and building effective relationships.
  • Result-oriented and able to work under pressure with limited supervision, both independently and as part of a team.
  • Knowledge of procurement for drilling/wells required.
  • Knowledge of relevant standards and procedures.
  • Proficiency in oral and written English.
  • Similar past position highly preferred.
