Job Brief

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Construction Inspector specializing in Civil construction, Steel Structure erection, and Architectural activities. The role involves managing the Civil Construction of a major Green Steel Project in collaboration with the client and cross-functional teams. The ideal candidate is a civil engineer with significant experience in large-scale civil construction projects.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist the construction team in tasks required for civil construction, coordinating actions under the responsibility of the PMC team (quality control, progress monitoring, financial control, risk and opportunity control, and reporting).
  • Coordinate with CSA inspectors to ensure contractors carry out civil construction tasks in line with contract terms, project requirements, and schedules.
  • Work closely with the PMC construction team and report to the CSA Superintendent Leader.
  • Ensure compliance with project policies, strategies, and procedures for execution of project supplies.
  • Promote and maintain technical and administrative relationships with the client and contractors to resolve issues arising during project execution.
  • Support technical control, production, deadlines, costs, and health and safety during civil construction, in accordance with engineering design (earthworks, piling, civil works, steel structure, architectural activities, etc.).
  • Ensure CSA activities of contractors are carried out in line with contract procedures, management plans, inspections, and design documents.
  • Ensure compliance with all legal requirements associated with the development of the work.
  • Verify that construction activities comply with project technical specifications and regulations (quality control and compliance).
  • Manage technical documentation, ensuring management plans, certificates, manuals, and other technical documents are available during construction for all contractors.
  • Maintain constant communication with contractors to resolve delays, quality issues, or changes in requirements.
  • Inform the project team about the status of supplies and possible risks of delay, proposing corrective actions as needed.
  • Collaborate with the scheduling team to measure progress and plan upcoming construction activities.
  • Identify potential project risks early and develop appropriate treatment plans, reporting promptly to management.
  • Issue and sign formal communications related to construction execution.
  • Perform other duties as designated by the CSA Superintendent Leader and/or the client.

Requirements and Skills

  • Degree in Engineering
  • Minimum 7 years of experience in Civil Construction within Oil & Gas, Engineering and Construction, Steel, Mining, and/or Infrastructure sectors
  • Ability to collaborate with other civil inspectors and manage project needs proactively
  • Experience managing civil contracts or participating in teams providing PMC or EPCM services
  • Quality assurance and quality control experience
  • Experience as a Civil Construction Manager on major projects
  • Risk and mitigation planning experience
  • Commercial understanding
  • Experience working on technically complex projects
  • Experience with MS Office, Primavera, and/or Aconex
  • Fluent in English
