Preservation Manager

Position Summary

We are seeking an experienced Preservation Manager to lead preservation activities across major oil and gas EPC/EPCIC projects in Abu Dhabi.

The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and implementing preservation strategies that protect mechanical, electrical, instrumentation, and packaged equipment throughout fabrication, transportation, storage, installation, and commissioning. Working closely with multidisciplinary project teams, you will ensure equipment integrity is maintained and assets are fully prepared for mechanical completion, commissioning, and start-up.

Key Responsibilities

Preservation Management

  • Develop and implement project-specific preservation strategies, procedures, and execution plans
  • Lead preservation activities across offshore facilities, fabrication yards, modules, and onshore installations
  • Ensure preservation activities comply with project specifications, OEM recommendations, client requirements, and industry standards
  • Establish and maintain equipment preservation registers and tracking systems throughout the project lifecycle

Project Coordination

  • Coordinate preservation requirements with Engineering, Procurement, Construction, QA/QC, Logistics, and Commissioning teams
  • Manage preservation activities for mechanical, electrical, instrumentation, and packaged equipment
  • Review vendor documentation to ensure preservation requirements are incorporated into project execution
  • Support project planning to ensure preservation activities align with construction and commissioning schedules

Quality & Equipment Integrity

  • Monitor preservation status through inspections and audits
  • Identify deficiencies and implement corrective actions where required
  • Ensure proper storage, handling, corrosion protection, maintenance, and preservation of critical equipment
  • Identify preservation-related risks and implement mitigation measures to protect equipment integrity

Leadership

  • Lead, supervise, and mentor Preservation Engineers, Supervisors, and Technicians across multiple project locations
  • Promote best practices and continuous improvement within the preservation function
  • Support effective communication between project teams, contractors, vendors, and clients

Commissioning Support

  • Support Mechanical Completion, Pre-Commissioning, Commissioning, and Start-up teams to ensure equipment readiness
  • Participate in project handover activities and support smooth transition to operations
  • Interface with clients, vendors, third-party inspectors, and operations teams during inspections, audits, and handovers

Reporting

  • Prepare preservation reports, KPIs, progress updates, and management reports
  • Monitor project performance and recommend improvements to preservation processes
  • Ensure accurate documentation and traceability throughout the project lifecycle

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Instrumentation Engineering, or a related discipline
  • Minimum 15 years of experience within Oil & Gas EPC/EPCIC projects
  • Minimum 5 years of leadership experience managing preservation activities
  • Strong experience across offshore, fabrication yard, module, and onshore projects
  • Excellent knowledge of Mechanical Completion, Pre-Commissioning, Commissioning, and Start-up processes
  • Experience developing and managing preservation programmes for major capital projects
  • Strong understanding of equipment preservation, storage, handling, corrosion prevention, and asset integrity
  • Experience coordinating with multidisciplinary engineering and construction teams
  • Strong leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills

Preferred Experience

  • Experience delivering major EPC/EPCIC projects in the Middle East
  • Experience working with international contractors and owner/operator organisations
  • Familiarity with equipment preservation systems, completion management systems, and project quality processes
  • Experience supporting project handover and operational readiness
