Lifting Lead (Offshore Projects)

Overview
An opportunity is available for an experienced Lifting Lead to provide technical leadership and assurance for lifting operations across major offshore oil and gas projects.
The successful candidate will act as the technical focal point for lifting activities, ensuring all lifting operations are planned, executed, and monitored in accordance with company requirements, international standards, and industry best practices. The role also supports project teams by providing technical expertise, driving lifting safety initiatives, and ensuring compliance throughout the project lifecycle.
Key Responsibilities
Technical Leadership
- Act as the technical focal point for lifting operations across multiple offshore project scopes
- Review, approve, and oversee lifting plans and execution strategies
- Provide technical guidance to project teams on lifting operations and lifting equipment
- Support project teams in resolving complex lifting-related technical issues
Assurance & Compliance
- Develop and implement lifting assurance processes to ensure compliance with project requirements and international standards
- Conduct compliance reviews and identify opportunities for continuous improvement
- Participate in the development and enhancement of lifting standards, procedures, and best practices
- Monitor contractor compliance with approved lifting procedures and regulatory requirements
Risk Management & Safety
- Participate in risk screening and formal risk assessments for critical lifting operations
- Promote a strong safety culture and ensure lifting activities comply with project HSE requirements
- Support investigation of lifting incidents and implementation of corrective actions
- Promote industry best practices, Life Saving Rules, and continuous safety improvements
Project Support
- Support safe and timely execution of lifting activities across onshore and offshore construction projects
- Coordinate with engineering, construction, transportation, hook-up, and commissioning teams
- Ensure technical deliverables related to lifting activities are completed on schedule
- Support brownfield and greenfield project execution where lifting expertise is required
Stakeholder Management
- Coordinate with project management teams, construction managers, engineering disciplines, operations teams, contractors, vendors, certification bodies, and third-party organisations
- Facilitate communication between project stakeholders to resolve lifting-related issues
- Promote knowledge sharing, lessons learned, and continuous improvement initiatives
Reporting
- Maintain accurate reporting systems for lifting operations
- Monitor lifting performance, compliance status, and corrective action implementation
- Prepare technical reports and provide recommendations to project management
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Science, or a related technical discipline
- OPITO LOLER Competent Person certification
- Minimum 8 years of experience supporting large oil and gas construction or offshore projects
- At least 1 year of supervisory experience or responsibility for contractor or vendor oversight
- Extensive experience inspecting, certifying, and verifying lifting equipment and lifting appliances
- Strong knowledge of lifting operations management for major industrial or offshore projects
- Good understanding of international lifting standards including API, ASME, BS, DNV, ISO, and LOLER
- Experience implementing lifting assurance and compliance programmes
- Strong technical problem-solving and decision-making abilities
- Excellent communication, coordination, and stakeholder management skills
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to influence multidisciplinary teams
- Computer literacy with standard engineering and office software
- Fluent spoken and written English
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience as a Lifting Subject Matter Expert or Technical Authority within an oil and gas operating company
- Experience supporting both offshore and onshore construction projects
- Familiarity with operator lifting standards and corporate assurance systems
- Experience supporting brownfield and greenfield developments
- Previous Middle East offshore project experience
