Job Title: Mechanical Technician Lead
Working Location: South London
Contract Type: Permanent
Work Schedule: 6am-2pm, Monday to Friday

This position is with an established manufacturing operator looking for a Mechanical Technician Lead to drive mechanical maintenance and ensure safe, efficient operation across the site, with clear routes to grow within the business.
Key Responsibilities
Leading inspection, troubleshooting, diagnosis and repair of mechanical equipment
Managing routine maintenance, testing and installation of new equipment
Overseeing planned maintenance activity via the site's CMMS/EAM system
Maintaining strict control of the Permit to Work system for internal teams and contractors
Engaging and controlling contractors across civil, mechanical, instrument and electrical work
Maintaining full records and documentation for all mechanical equipment
Supervising a maintenance team, including day and/or shift-based working patterns
Ensuring safe working practices are upheld across all maintenance activity
Requirements
Level 4 Apprenticeship (or equivalent trade experience) in Mechanical Engineering
Previous experience leading or supervising a maintenance team, either on days or a shift pattern
ATEX qualification and comfort working in explosive atmosphere environments (ideal)
Experience in a manufacturing, engineering or scientific environment (preferred)
A systematic, logical approach to problem-solving
Strong communication skills and a good command of English
Competence with MS Office and standard CMMS/EAM systems (beneficial)
Existing right to work in the UK - this role cannot offer visa sponsorship
