Junior Engineer - Electrical

Location: Doha, Qatar

Assignment Type: Secondment Contract

Contract Duration: 3-6 Months

Working Schedule: 48 Hours per Week (Sunday to Thursday, Qatar Time)

About the Opportunity

A leading engineering and energy services organization is seeking a Junior Engineer - Electrical to support electrical engineering and detailed design activities for oil & gas EPC projects in Qatar.

The successful candidate will work closely with senior electrical engineers and multidisciplinary project teams to support preparation of engineering deliverables, technical documentation, and electrical design activities across various project phases.

This role is ideal for candidates looking to further develop their technical capabilities within a dynamic EPC project environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in preparing electrical engineering deliverables including:
    • Cable routing layouts
    • Earthing and grounding layouts
    • Lighting layouts
    • Equipment layouts
    • Electrical load calculations
    • Cable sizing calculations
    • Equipment specifications
  • Support development and updating of electrical drawings and technical documents.
  • Perform basic electrical engineering calculations under supervision using tools such as Dialux and other engineering software.
  • Review and apply project specifications, engineering standards, and codes for conventional electrical systems.
  • Assist in reviewing vendor technical and commercial quotations for electrical equipment and materials.
  • Support preparation of engineering requisitions, technical evaluations, proposals, and estimates.
  • Coordinate with other engineering disciplines to support project execution and interdisciplinary reviews.
  • Maintain document control, revision management, and technical accuracy for assigned deliverables.
  • Participate in project meetings, technical reviews, and safety reviews as required.
  • Monitor assigned tasks to ensure completion within allocated project schedules and manhours.
  • Support site engineering, construction, and commissioning activities when required.
  • Ensure compliance with company HSE and Quality Management System requirements.
  • Carry out additional duties as assigned by senior engineering personnel.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering from a recognized university.
  • Typically 2-3 years of post-graduate experience within an EPC company or engineering consultancy supporting oil & gas projects.
  • Familiarity with electrical engineering design principles and detailed engineering activities.
  • Knowledge of load calculations and cable sizing techniques.
  • Exposure to engineering software tools such as Dialux is preferred.
  • Understanding of international electrical engineering standards and specifications.
  • Good analytical, communication, and coordination skills.
  • Ability to work within multidisciplinary project teams.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications and engineering documentation practices.

Preferred Experience

  • Experience supporting offshore or onshore oil & gas projects.
  • Exposure to EPC engineering workflows and project documentation systems.
  • Previous site-based construction or commissioning exposure would be advantageous.
