Fluids Superintendent
Location: Paramaribo, SurinameTarget Start Date: October 2026
Contract Length & Type: Annually Renewable Contract
Rotation: 4 weeks on, 4 weeks off (7 days per week, 8 hours per day)
Key Responsibilities
- Support Drilling Assets within the Drilling and Wells department.
- Coordinate all fluids and cement operations and service providers.
- Act as technical support for the Drilling Superintendent and offshore Fluids Supervisor.
- Prepare all Fluids and Cement Programs, logistics, and end-of-well reports, ensuring proper quality control of all fluids and documentation.
- Manage service companies providing fluids, cement, and waste management services.
- Provide fluids engineering support to the Lead Drilling Engineer and Head of Engineering during well preparation.
- Prepare Fluids and Cement Programs following the basis of design and ensure close follow-up of fluids operations.
- Plan and coordinate logistics for all chemicals, bulks, and equipment required for on-site operations.
- Oversee daily operational drilling fluids, cement, and waste management operations in accordance with industry standards and local laws.
- Perform quality control of all drilling fluids and cementing formulations to meet guidelines and well requirements.
- Validate all proformas from service companies according to contract requirements and services performed.
- Monitor and optimize costs and performance of service companies, and prepare lessons learned and reports on drilling fluids.
- Assist in well close-out reports.
- Liaise with headquarters for all fluids-related subjects for sensitive wells.
- Manage, motivate, evaluate, and develop offshore fluid supervisors.
- Ensure drilling fluids operations comply with safety, environmental protection, and cost/time optimization objectives.
- Ensure waste management is compliant with environmental and industry standards.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant statutory and company QHSE standards, and prepare derogations as needed.
Requirements
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Engineering or equivalent technical qualification.
- More than 10 years of experience in drilling fluids and cementing, including deepwater and water base mud experience (mandatory).
- Strong knowledge of industry referential, processes, and methods.
