Discipline Engineer

Location: Doha, Qatar

Assignment Type: Secondment Contract

Contract Duration: 3-6 Months

Working Schedule: 48 Hours per Week (Sunday to Thursday, Qatar Time)

About the Opportunity

A leading engineering and energy services organization is seeking an experienced Discipline Engineer - Electrical to support detailed engineering and design activities for major oil & gas projects in Qatar.

The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering electrical engineering design and technical support across various project phases, ensuring compliance with project specifications, international standards, and company procedures.

This role offers the opportunity to work within multidisciplinary EPC project environments supporting complex offshore and onshore energy infrastructure developments.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare and develop electrical engineering deliverables including:
    • Cable routing and layouts
    • Earthing and grounding layouts
    • Lighting layouts
    • Equipment layouts
    • Electrical load lists and schedules
    • Equipment sizing and specifications
  • Perform electrical engineering calculations and studies using industry-standard software such as ETAP and Dialux.
  • Develop, review, and validate engineering drawings and technical documents.
  • Interpret and apply applicable international codes, standards, and project specifications.
  • Review vendor technical and commercial quotations and support technical bid evaluations.
  • Support preparation of engineering requisitions, technical evaluations, proposals, and cost estimates.
  • Coordinate with multidisciplinary engineering teams including Mechanical, Instrumentation, Civil, Telecom, and Process disciplines.
  • Identify and communicate engineering impacts and interface requirements across disciplines.
  • Participate in technical reviews, design reviews, HAZID, HAZOP, and project meetings.
  • Ensure engineering deliverables are completed within approved project schedules and engineering manhour budgets.
  • Supervise and provide guidance to junior engineers and designers where required.
  • Support procurement, construction, testing, commissioning, and site engineering activities when required.
  • Maintain compliance with company HSE and Quality Management System requirements.
  • Ensure technical accuracy, document control, and quality of all assigned engineering deliverables.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering from a recognized university.
  • Minimum 5-6 years of post-graduate experience within EPC companies or engineering consultancies supporting oil & gas projects.
  • Strong experience in electrical engineering design and detailed engineering activities.
  • Proficiency with ETAP, Dialux, and other electrical engineering software tools.
  • Good knowledge of international engineering standards, codes, and industry best practices.
  • Experience preparing and reviewing electrical engineering deliverables and technical documentation.
  • Ability to coordinate effectively within multidisciplinary project teams.
  • Strong analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Good understanding of project execution, engineering workflows, and document management systems.
  • Previous site construction or commissioning experience would be advantageous.

Preferred Experience

  • Experience supporting offshore and onshore oil & gas projects.
  • Exposure to brownfield modifications and EPC execution environments.
  • Familiarity with Qatar project standards and Middle East project environments is advantageous.
