Senior HSE Advisor

Location: Grimsby or Barrow-in-Furness, UK
Contract Dates: 1st November 2026 - 31st December 2027
Work Style: Hybrid (2 to 3 office days weekly), Offshore travel required, Business travel covered

Role Purpose

Act as the QHSE point of contact for cross-site teams covering Heavy Lift, Major Component Exchanges, Special Tasks, and Technical Project Management. Enable safe project planning, mobilisation, and execution across UK Generation sites, with occasional support in Northern Europe. Serve as a trusted resource to stakeholders and suppliers, strengthening safety culture and providing offshore assurance, risk-management support, and leadership for standardisation and safety improvements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide consistent QHSE support to cross-site delivery teams and project stakeholders.
  • Plan and mobilise projects and suppliers safely, including reviewing risk assessments and method statements.
  • Support safety culture through offshore presence, inspections, emergency drills, and exercises from vessels and turbines.
  • Investigate incidents, ensure accurate system registration, and share learning across the organisation.
  • Identify and lead standardisation, procedural, and design improvements.
  • Support the development and implementation of UK emergency-response performance standards and associated assurance activities.
  • Facilitate HAZID sessions and apply bowtie, barrier-management, and performance-standard principles.
  • Maintain effective cooperation with HSE stakeholders, suppliers, and delivery teams.

Tasks

  • Review execution plans, risk assessments, method statements, and supplier mobilisation arrangements.
  • Conduct offshore inspections, safety observations, emergency drills, and exercises on vessels and turbines.
  • Lead or support incident investigations and complete accurate incident-management records.
  • Assess HSE risks using bowties, barriers, performance standards, and assurance activities.
  • Develop and implement emergency-response performance standards for UK project delivery.
  • Prepare and facilitate HAZID sessions and document resulting actions and controls.
  • Run small improvement projects addressing standardisation, procedures, and design risks.
  • Coordinate changing priorities and communicate clear actions, risks, and decisions to stakeholders.

Deliverables

  • Reviewed and approved risk assessments, method statements, and mobilisation controls.
  • Offshore inspection, safety-observation, drill, and exercise records.
  • Completed incident investigations, accurate registrations, and shared learning actions.
  • Emergency-response performance standards, assurance evidence, and HAZID outputs.
  • Implemented standardisation, procedural, and design-improvement actions.

Authority / Accountability

  • Act as the designated QHSE point of contact for assigned cross-site teams and projects.
  • Challenge unsafe plans or behaviours and escalate material HSE risks through the appropriate route.
  • Take ownership of assigned QHSE responsibilities and small improvement projects through to completion.
  • Adapt priorities as project plans change while maintaining effective stakeholder cooperation and delivery assurance.

Requirements

  • Senior HSE or QHSE experience supporting complex, cross-site project delivery.
  • Offshore oil and gas and wind experience, with willingness to travel to UK offshore sites.
  • Current full GWO training, including Enhanced First Aid for offshore wind.
  • Current OGUK medical certificate, including the Chester Step Test.
  • Technical background, preferably supported by at least a NEBOSH General Certificate.
  • Strong HSE risk capability across bowties, barrier management, performance standards, and assurance.
  • Practical experience facilitating HAZID sessions.
  • Small-project leadership and ownership through changing priorities.
  • Approachable, proactive communicator able to collaborate effectively at all organisational levels.

Working Conditions

  • Assignment from 1st November 2026 to 31st December 2027.
  • Hybrid working with 2 to 3 days weekly in either the Grimsby or Barrow-in-Furness office, supporting UK sites and Northern Europe as required.
  • Offshore travel is required. Base-office travel is self-funded; other business travel is covered.
  • Background verification is required before onboarding.
