Senior Electrical Engineer (Onshore Transmission Package)

Position Summary
The Senior Electrical Engineer will be responsible for the management of high-quality engineering and design related to the execution of onshore transmission packages on time. As part of the onshore transmission scope, you will manage electrical and grid engineering across multiple projects in close cooperation with contract managers, package managers, consultants, and other interface team members. You will review and evaluate design deliverables and be actively involved in technical due diligence and tender processes for work packages including, but not limited to, technical specification preparation, assessment of proposals, and technical discussions throughout the project lifecycle from planning to operation.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage and supervise electrical and grid engineering and design development for all aspects related to onshore transmission packages in the lead up to construction and operation, ensuring compliance with project requirements and on-time delivery of design scopes.
- Responsible for technical review and approval of engineering deliverables (e.g. design basis, reports, procedures, drawings, etc.) including technical discussions with stakeholders in relation to various electrical and grid connection works (engineering contractor, EPC contractor, work package contractors, owner's engineer, consultants, etc.).
- Responsible for technical review and coordination of all electrical systems related activities including, but not limited to, electrical transmission and distribution systems, substation design with reactive power compensation equipment (STATCOM, reactors, etc.), wind turbine generator electrical drive train (generator, converter, transformer, switchgear, etc.), onshore transmission lines, and control and protection systems.
- Responsible for cooperation with the grid team who is planning grid connection permits and interaction with related authorities such as KEPCO, KPX, and KESCO.
- Review and participate in inspection and test activities of electrical equipment, including SAT (Site Acceptance Test), SIT (Site Integration Test), and FAT (Factory Acceptance Test), as required.
- Support the tendering process for onshore transmission packages (HV equipment, substation, main transformer, STATCOM, reactor, HV cable, ECMS, etc.) from a technical perspective, including preparation of tender documents, bid evaluations, and specification preparation.
- Support technical due diligence during project acquisition and development phases, providing technical evaluations and recommendations, cost analysis, and related input.
- Provide engineering support and monitoring during fabrication and construction phases, ensuring works are scheduled and built in accordance with plans and specifications, including resolving potential issues, providing timely feedback to management, and conducting site visits.
Education
- Bachelor's degree or above in electrical engineering or other relevant discipline, with preference for a master's degree.
Experience
- More than 10 years of relevant professional experience and a proven track record in electrical and grid engineering and management with supervision responsibilities in onshore and/or offshore projects (renewable energy, oil and gas, infrastructure, etc.).
- Relevant industry experience from project development and execution, including developing electrical system concepts and maturing these concepts to project execution stages, equipment FAT and corresponding standards, or commissioning and installation of power generation projects.
- Knowledge of prevailing Korean (KEC, KEPCO, etc.) and IEC standards for electrical equipment.
- Basic knowledge of the preparation of preliminary electrical designs (e.g. single line diagrams, schematics, technical specifications, technical data sheets, technical overall requirements).
- Knowledge of Health and Safety legislation with respect to electrical systems.
