Overview
An opportunity is available for an experienced QC Inspector - Civil to support major oil and gas infrastructure projects in Qatar. The successful candidate will be responsible for inspecting civil, structural, architectural, road, and pipeline construction activities, ensuring all work complies with approved drawings, project specifications, quality requirements, and international standards.
This role requires extensive experience in civil quality inspection within EPC, oil and gas, petrochemical, or industrial construction projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Inspect civil, structural, architectural, infrastructure, and pipeline construction activities to ensure compliance with approved drawings, specifications, inspection and test plans (ITPs), and project procedures
- Conduct inspections of excavation, backfilling, compaction, foundations, reinforcement, formwork, concrete placement, curing, and finishing works
- Perform batch plant prequalification audits and verify compliance of concrete production facilities
- Witness concrete trial mix designs and verify compliance with project performance requirements
- Inspect equipment foundations, transformer foundations, machine foundations, structural pedestals, and associated concrete works
- Verify grouting activities, including non-shrink grout installation beneath equipment and structural supports
- Inspect passive fireproofing applications for structural steel and equipment supports
- Verify material receiving inspections, material approvals, storage conditions, sampling, and testing requirements
- Witness laboratory and field testing including soil compaction, field density, concrete slump, compressive strength, aggregate, asphalt, and related quality tests
- Inspect road construction activities including subgrade, sub-base, road base, asphalt paving, compaction, pavement thickness, and level surveys
- Perform inspections of building construction including masonry, plastering, waterproofing, screeding, flooring, ceilings, architectural finishes, and painting
- Inspect pipeline trenching, bedding, pipe lowering, backfilling, and reinstatement activities
- Conduct inspections of pipeline crossings, drainage systems, culverts, retaining structures, bund walls, containment systems, and associated infrastructure
- Inspect installation and testing of GRE and HDPE piping systems
- Inspect structural steel fabrication and erection activities, including alignment, bolting, welding, and installation tolerances
- Review material certificates, calibration records, inspection reports, and quality documentation
- Coordinate inspection activities with construction teams, engineering disciplines, contractors, consultants, and clients
- Prepare inspection reports, punch lists, surveillance reports, and turnover documentation
- Raise non-conformance reports (NCRs), monitor corrective actions, and verify close-out of quality issues
- Monitor contractor compliance with project quality management systems, procedures, specifications, and HSE requirements
Requirements
- Degree or diploma in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, Architecture, Geology, or a related discipline
- Minimum 10 years' experience (degree holders) or 15 years' experience (diploma holders) in civil quality inspection
- Experience within oil and gas, petrochemical, industrial, infrastructure, or EPC construction projects
- Strong experience inspecting civil, structural, architectural, road, and pipeline construction works
- Experience conducting concrete batch plant audits and witnessing concrete trial mix designs
- Knowledge of concrete works, road construction, underground utilities, storage tanks, and associated infrastructure
- Experience with field inspections, material approvals, testing, and quality documentation
- Good understanding of quality management systems, inspection and test plans, and construction quality procedures
- Strong knowledge of international standards including ACI, ASTM, AASHTO, API, ASME, BS, ISO, and other recognised industry codes
- Excellent communication and coordination skills within multidisciplinary and multicultural project environments
- Ability to identify quality issues, raise NCRs, and monitor corrective actions through completion
Preferred Qualifications
- Formal training in Quality Control or Quality Assurance
- Membership of a recognised professional engineering or quality organisation
- Experience working on major infrastructure, pipeline, refinery, petrochemical, or oil and gas developments in the Middle East
- Experience with turnover documentation and project handover activities
