Role Objective

Support the migration of Kubernetes-based platforms and workloads from Microsoft Azure and Azure DevOps pipelines to AWS and GitHub Actions.
Deliver secure, reliable, and production-ready cloud infrastructure across Azure and AWS environments.
Maintain operational continuity, data integrity, and appropriate rollback capability throughout migration and cutover activities.
Provide effective platform support, troubleshooting, and automation for cloud-native workloads and delivery pipelines.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan and execute migration activities from Azure Kubernetes Service to Amazon Elastic Kubernetes Service.
  • Migrate Azure DevOps YAML pipelines to GitHub Actions workflows.
  • Design, build, refactor, and maintain cloud infrastructure through Terraform.
  • Configure and support Kubernetes platforms, container tooling, access controls, networking, storage, and observability.
  • Coordinate data, database, and persistent-storage migration activities, including validation, cutover, and rollback planning.
  • Apply cloud, container, and Kubernetes security best practices and support audit and compliance requirements.
  • Collaborate with technical teams and stakeholders to deliver migration milestones and resolve platform issues.

Tasks

  • Deploy and operate Kubernetes workloads using Docker, Helm, and/or Kustomize.
  • Configure EKS, IAM, IRSA, VPC networking, security groups, load balancers, Route 53, registries, CloudWatch, secrets, S3, RDS, and EFS where relevant.
  • Support AKS, Azure DevOps, Azure Container Registry, Azure networking and identity, Key Vault, Azure Monitor, and Log Analytics.
  • Develop reusable Terraform modules with appropriate remote state, environment separation, and migration patterns.
  • Configure DNS, TLS, ingress and egress traffic, firewalls, private connectivity, load balancing, and cross-platform connectivity.
  • Map Azure identity and Kubernetes RBAC to AWS IAM and EKS access patterns, applying least privilege and secure workload identity.
  • Implement monitoring, logging, alerting, and troubleshooting across application logs, metrics, traces, and dashboards.
  • Develop Python or Bash automation for migration tasks, validation checks, runbooks, and delivery pipelines.

Deliverables

  • Migrated Kubernetes platforms, applications, and supporting cloud infrastructure in AWS.
  • GitHub Actions workflows replacing the relevant Azure DevOps pipelines.
  • Reusable, maintained, and documented Terraform infrastructure code.
  • Validated data, database, and persistent-storage migrations with cutover and rollback plans.
  • Secure platform configurations, access controls, and compliance evidence.
  • Operational dashboards, alerts, runbooks, and migration-validation records.

Project Documents

  • Cloud and Kubernetes migration plans and technical designs.
  • Terraform modules, configuration records, and supporting documentation.
  • CI/CD workflow definitions and pipeline migration records.
  • Data-migration, cutover, rollback, and validation documentation.
  • Security, access-control, observability, and operational runbooks.

Decision Authority / Responsibility

  • Recommend and implement appropriate technical approaches for cloud, Kubernetes, infrastructure-as-code, and CI/CD migration activities.
  • Identify and escalate material security, data-integrity, availability, schedule, and delivery risks.
  • Challenge configurations or migration approaches that do not meet production, security, or compliance requirements.
  • Maintain alignment with agreed architecture, project priorities, and operational-support requirements.

Requirements

  • Minimum five years of hands-on DevOps, platform-engineering, or cloud-infrastructure experience.
  • Practical experience with Kubernetes-based application migrations and production-grade cloud environments.
  • Strong Kubernetes, Docker, Helm, and/or Kustomize knowledge, including RBAC, service accounts, ingress, images, and workload troubleshooting.
  • Strong hands-on AWS and EKS experience across identity, networking, security, storage, monitoring, and supporting cloud services.
  • Solid Azure and AKS experience, including Azure DevOps, registries, networking, identity, Key Vault, and monitoring integrations.
  • Expert-level Terraform experience is essential, including reusable modules, remote state, environment separation, and infrastructure migration.
  • Expert-level GitHub Actions experience is essential.
  • Strong understanding of data, database, and persistent-storage migration, including backup, restore, compatibility, cutover, rollback, and validation.
  • Strong cloud and Kubernetes networking knowledge covering DNS, TLS, ingress, egress, firewalls, private connectivity, and service discovery.
  • Strong security mindset with practical experience of least privilege, secrets, workload identity, image scanning, and Kubernetes security.
  • Experience with CloudWatch, Azure Monitor, Log Analytics, Prometheus, Grafana, and/or OpenTelemetry.
  • Proficiency in Python or Bash scripting and automation.
  • For 1-2 of the four positions: hands-on experience deploying and operating JupyterHub and JupyterLab at scale on Kubernetes, preferably AWS EKS.
  • AKS-to-EKS migration and Azure DevOps-to-GitHub Actions migration experience are highly desirable.
  • Able to work from Poland; working remotely from another country is not permitted unless expressly approved.
  • Available to attend Warsaw offices where reasonably required for delivery, collaboration, workshops, or stakeholder engagement.
