Risk and Opportunities Engineer
Location: Lulea, Sweden
Assignment Type: Annually renewable contract
Residential / Rotation: 3 weeks on site, 1 week working remote, on rotation
Work Schedule: 5 days per week, 8 hours per day

About the Project
The role supports a major industrial plant under construction in Northern Sweden that will produce green steel. Green steel production emits up to 95 percent less CO2 compared to conventional steel production, contributing significantly to sustainable industrial development.
Role Overview
The Risk and Opportunities (ROP) Engineer is responsible for identifying, analyzing, and monitoring risks, opportunities, and threats throughout the lifecycle of the project. This role ensures the integration of risk management strategies into project planning, execution, and reporting processes, supporting informed decision-making and the achievement of project objectives.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the development and implementation of the Project Risk Management Plan.
- Identify, evaluate, and categorize project risks and opportunities in collaboration with discipline leads.
- Maintain and update the risk register, ensuring traceability and consistency with the WBS, CBS, and schedule.
- Facilitate risk workshops and stakeholder interviews to gather inputs.
- Perform qualitative and quantitative risk analysis (QRA) using Monte Carlo simulation tools (for example, Primavera Risk Analysis).
- Propose and track mitigation and enhancement actions, assigning responsibilities and deadlines.
- Provide periodic risk reports and dashboards for internal and client reviews.
- Ensure alignment of risks with cost contingency and schedule buffers.
- Monitor emerging risks and lessons learned throughout the project lifecycle.
Requirements and Skills
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Project Management, or a related field.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in project risk management or similar roles.
- Familiarity with risk management standards (PMI, ISO 31000, AACEI, and similar frameworks).
- Experience with QRA tools such as Primavera Risk Analysis, @Risk, or similar.
- Proficiency in Excel, Power BI, and risk management platforms (for example, ARM, Safran Risk).
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and facilitation abilities.
- Fluent in English.
- RMP or equivalent certification is desirable.
- Team player with the ability to work under pressure in dynamic environments.
