Job Description

This position primary responsibility is Export Control. Our client require a specialist with deep expertise in Export Control, covering both 1st line of defence (execution) and 2nd line of defence (governance).

Our client are seeking an experienced Export Control & Customs Specialist to join their organisation. In this role, you will act both as a first line of defence, supporting operational execution, and as a second line governance function, ensuring that a robust, transparent, and auditable trade compliance framework is in place to support our strategic objectives. You will be responsible for ensuring that all Export Control obligations and Customs Compliance processes are executed accurately, efficiently, and in full alignment with applicable EU, UK, US, and international trade regulations. Approximately 70% of the role will focus on Export Control activities, with the remainder dedicated to supporting customs related responsibilities.

Key Responsibilities

Export Control

  • Conduct daily Export Control checks, including Dual-Use classification, ECCN
  • assignment, and US re-export assessments.
  • Ensure compliance with EU, UK, and US export-control regulations.
  • Support the business with export licence applications and regulatory submissions.
  • Maintain accurate Export Control master data (ECCN, US re-export, end-use/end-
  • user data).
  • Draft, maintain, and improve Export Control procedures and internal guidelines.
  • Monitor regulatory changes and ensure timely implementation.
  • Perform internal controls, audits, and compliance reviews.
  • Support investigations, voluntary disclosures, and remediation actions.
  • Provide expert guidance to internal stakeholders.

Customs Compliance

  • Ensure accurate and compliant customs declarations.
  • Classify goods with correct HS codes and maintain customs master data in SAP.
  • Monitor import/export flows and ensure compliance with EU and national customs
  • legislation.
  • Collaborate with warehouse teams on customs-relevant activities.
  • Manage customs brokers, powers of attorney, and service levels.
  • Support customs authorisation applications.
  • Assist with customs audits and inquiries.
  • Draft and maintain customs-related SOPs and documentation.

Candidate Requirements

  • Mandatory; University degree in Foreign Trade, Customs, Export Control, International Trade Law, or similar qualification.
  • 7-10 years of experience in Export Control and Customs.
  • Strong knowledge of EU/UK/US export control regulations.
  • Experience with customs regulations, HS classification, Free Trade Agreements, and the Union Customs Code.
  • Experience with customs systems
  • Working experience with SAP S/4HANA
  • Strong MS Office skills.
  • Excellent command of Danish and English languages; German, or Dutch is an advantage.
