Project Manager - Power and Utilities

Location: Houston, TX, USA

Overview
An established engineering and construction contractor is seeking a Project Manager to lead turnkey projects within the power and utilities sector. This role focuses on the delivery of high voltage infrastructure projects, including substations, transmission, and distribution systems, ensuring successful execution from planning through to completion.

The Role
You will be responsible for managing the full project lifecycle, ensuring delivery is aligned with cost, schedule, safety, and quality objectives while leading cross-functional teams and coordinating with internal and external stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage the full lifecycle of construction projects from planning through execution and completion
  • Take accountability for cost, schedule, safety, quality, and overall project delivery
  • Coordinate with procurement teams to ensure timely delivery of materials
  • Lead and manage multiple project teams and workstreams
  • Prepare and maintain project cash flow, billing, and change orders
  • Produce progress reports, forecasts, and project documentation
  • Resolve project issues, conflicts, and delays to maintain delivery targets
  • Travel to project sites as required

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Civil Engineering, or related discipline
  • Professional registration preferred
  • Minimum 10 years of experience in substation, transmission, or power infrastructure projects
  • Strong experience managing project budgets and teams
  • Solid understanding of high voltage systems, substations, and transmission networks
  • Strong financial and project control knowledge
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and organisational skills
  • Proficiency in MS Office tools
  • Ability to work in a team-oriented environment and manage multiple priorities

Working Conditions

  • Primarily office-based with occasional site visits
  • Ability to work extended hours when required
  • Occasional travel, including overnight stays
  • Ability to perform standard office-based tasks and light physical activity
