QA/QC Inspector - Welding

Qualification
- Education: Minimum Higher National Diploma (HND) or Diploma in Mechanical, Welding or Metallurgy discipline or equivalent.
- Certification: Certified as American Welding Society SCWI, CSWIP 3.2 Certified Senior Welding Inspector, or approved equivalent.
- NDT Certification: ASNT Level II in NDT (VT, MT, PT, RT, UT) certificate for performing inspection against the respective NDT method.
- Code Knowledge: Thorough knowledge of relevant codes such as AWS, API, ASME, ASNT, EN, Shell DEP and ISO.
- Computer Skills: Skilled in computer programs, MS Office and database management.
- ISO 9001:2015 Internal/Lead Auditor is an advantage.
Experience
- Minimum 10 years of welding and NDT inspection experience, including 5 years after 3.2 certification, in the Oil & Gas industry with an international consultancy, Third Party inspection/certification company, EPIC contractor or end user on major projects.
- Minimum 5 years of offshore project experience.
- Experience in inspection and testing activities for major oil and gas projects/offshore process platforms/jackets across manufacturing, fabrication, construction and offshore installation phases.
- Familiar with inspection of structures, piping, offshore pipelines, materials and multiple welding processes, including UT/AUT/PAUT NDT techniques.
- Experience with welding of carbon steels, SS, DSS steels, Monel, Inconel, CRA, weld overlay and CUNI piping.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
- Ensure quality requirements for fabrication, construction and installation activities are implemented in accordance with approved project documents and contractor QC procedures/plans.
- Ensure contractors, subcontractors and vendors have competent resources, implement internationally acceptable practices and deliver products compliant with Corporate and Project Quality requirements.
- Participate in inspections, surveillance visits and audits of Contractors, Sub-contractors, Vendors, Manufacturers/Suppliers, Third Party Inspection and Certification activities and processes.
- Review project QC documentation including ITPs, Method Statements, work procedures and WPS/PQR.
- Verify contractor personnel qualifications and equipment calibration.
- Attend material receiving inspections and review MTCs.
- Monitor site and fabrication yard welding activities and ensure joints are welded to approved WPSs.
- Attend PQR mechanical testing and witness contractor welder qualification tests, evaluating visual and NDT results.
- Witness site/fabrication yard NDT activities, interpret test results and evaluate findings.
- Attend dimensional control inspections including laser survey inspection.
- Witness and approve PWHT processes.
- Monitor in-process inspection of offshore steel structures and topside facilities and verify conformity to corporate standards, project specifications and international codes/standards.
- Report daily to the QA/QC Coordinator/Engineer on contractor compliance and quality matters.
- Review, comment on and verify inspection/test reports and records, dossiers and MRBs.
