Qualification
- Education: BSc degree or higher qualification in Mechanical or Metallurgical Engineering from a recognized Engineering faculty.
- Certification: Valid CSWIP 3.2.1 or AWS Senior Welding Inspector (SCWI) certificate with at least five years post-certification experience.
- Preferred: BGAS Grade 2 or NACE Level II Coating Inspector qualification is preferable.
- NDT: Level II in RT, UT, PT and MT against ASNT or ISO requirements.
- QMS Auditor: Certified QMS Lead Auditor to ISO 9001:2015 with at least five years' auditing experience.
- Technical Knowledge: Good knowledge of international codes/standards including EN, ISO, API, ASME and ASTM.
- Skills: Good leadership and communication skills; ability to work in complex multicultural projects.
- Proficient in MS Office, databases, spreadsheets and email communications.
Experience
- Industry Experience: Minimum 15 years' experience as QA/QC Coordinator/QA/QC Lead, leading multidisciplinary QC inspector teams for major Oil & Gas projects/offshore process platforms/jackets/subsea pipelines across manufacturing, fabrication, construction and offshore installation/laying.
- Offshore Projects: Minimum 5 years offshore project experience.
- International Projects: Experience with an international oil company/operator/EPIC contractor; large energy project experience is an advantage.
- Experience managing contractors, subcontractors, vendors and TPIs on major projects.
- Multidiscipline offshore project experience covering structures/piping, NDT, material inspection, mechanical equipment installation, sour services, cladded piping, CRA pipelines, welding, repair works, dimensional control, painting/coating, internal lining and Monel sheathing.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
- Report quality status daily to the Senior Quality Engineer.
- Supervise and coordinate quality management system activities during construction and installation phases.
- Ensure Contractor/Subcontractor/Vendor/Manufacturer/Service Provider/TPCA/TPIA work complies with project specifications, Shell DEPs, project standards, international codes and contract QA/QC requirements.
- Review Contractor/Vendor technical and quality documents, ITPs and QA/QC procedures in the document management system.
- Ensure approved QA/QC documents are implemented at worksite level, including quality plans, procedures, control plans, ITPs and checklists.
- Lead and coordinate QC inspectors at fabrication, site construction and offshore installation and review inspection reports.
- Monitor Contractor/Vendor implementation of approved quality requirements and control quality of inspection personnel activities.
- Act as focal point for shop/site QC issues in consultation with the Senior Quality Engineer and QHSE Head.
- Control and follow up technical deviations, material substitutions and changes to inspection/test requirements.
- Control and follow up NCRs and implementation of corrective/preventive actions.
- Monitor and report quality statistics/KPIs including welding repair rates, NDE performance, NCRs, audit findings and surveillance findings.
- Ensure proper inspection/test records, test packs and dossiers/MRBs are prepared and submitted.
