Project Manager - Power Engineering Projects

Role Purpose
Manage the delivery of multidisciplinary power engineering assignments from mobilisation to close-out. This role is ideal for a developing project manager who can control scope, schedule, budget, risk, and communication while coordinating engineering teams in Kuala Lumpur and stakeholders in Australia.
Experience Level
Three to seven years of project management or project engineering experience in an engineering, infrastructure, or power environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Establish project scope, deliverables, programme, budget, responsibilities, and reporting requirements.
- Coordinate engineering inputs across substation, transmission line, telecommunications, civil, and structural disciplines.
- Track progress, hours, costs, changes, risks, actions, dependencies, and client decisions.
- Chair internal coordination meetings and prepare concise status reports, forecasts, and recovery plans.
- Maintain project registers, document control requirements, and evidence of approvals.
- Manage client communications and ensure queries, comments, and changes are resolved promptly.
- Support resource planning and balance delivery priorities across concurrent assignments.
- Promote safe design, quality assurance, and consistent project governance.
Qualifications and Experience
- Degree or diploma in engineering, project management, or a relevant technical discipline.
- Three to seven years of relevant experience, including responsibility for engineering project delivery.
- Sound understanding of project controls, commercial awareness, and change management.
- Strong organisation, follow-through, and stakeholder communication skills.
- Competence with Microsoft Office and project planning or reporting tools.
- Professional English and the ability to work effectively across cultures and time zones.
Desirable Experience
- Experience in power transmission, substations, utilities, or consulting engineering.
- Formal project management training or certification.
- Experience supporting Australian projects or clients.
Working Environment
This is a permanent, office-based position in Kuala Lumpur. The successful candidate will work as part of an international engineering team, with most assignments supporting power infrastructure projects in Australia. Some collaboration outside standard Malaysian office hours may occasionally be required to support project meetings and deadlines.
