Job Description
The SCADA Server Infrastructure Engineer is responsible for delivering and maintaining a stable, secure, scalable, and high-performing compute and storage foundation for OT systems operated across the client. This includes both virtual and physical server platforms supporting SCADA, OT security, analytics, and other operational technology environments. The engineer ensures continuous availability, implements robust backup and disaster recovery mechanisms, maintains security compliance, and supports the deployment of new OT initiatives. A core part of the role is to apply lifecycle engineering principles to keep OT server platforms modern, reliable, and aligned with internal standards.
Typical Deliverables
- Engineering, deployment, and lifecycle management of virtual and physical OT server environments
- Do server lifecycle assessments, and develop and maintain maintenance and upgrade roadmaps
- Provide server platform requirements, technical specifications, and procurement support materials
- Deliver secure server configurations, hardening documentation, and compliance evidence
- Coordinate with OEMs, suppliers, and internal SMEs on supportability, technical interfaces, and transition impacts
- Execute server replacements, migrations, and version upgrades with minimal downtime
- Design and validation of backup, restore, high-availability, and failover designs
- Proactive monitoring of performance, health, capacity and security
- Drive automation and standardization to reduce operational effort and improve reliability
- Conduct incident analysis and provide corrective and preventive actions, and proactive infrastructure improvements
- Contribute to the architecture of OT server environments, including compute, storage, and backup designs
- Support integration between server platforms and OT/SCADA systems, networks, and cyber-security layers
- Participate in design reviews, acceptance testing, and operational readiness exercises
- Plan and record tasks

- Support internal and external audit requirements
- Support for Factory and Site acceptance testing involving server-hosted OT applications
- Collaboration deliverables aligning server infrastructure with stakeholders (e.g. SCADA, OT security, network, radio and operational control centre teams)
- Communicate technical risks, constraints, and lifecycle impacts to relevant internal stakeholders
- Ensure that all OT systems, including SCADA, operate on a secure, scalable, and highly available server foundation, enabling stable 24/7 operations, growth and compliance
Skills Required
Technical Skills
- Solid experience with server virtualization and Windows/Linux system administration
- Good understanding of OT network environments, including secure and segmented architectures
- Ability to develop and maintain detailed documentation of server architectures, configurations, and procedures
- Familiarity with WTG and Substation SCADA systems and operational integration
- Capability to maintain and upgrade server infrastructure across its lifecycle
- Skill in preparing technical documentation and supporting supplier/solution validation
- Strong knowledge of virtualization technologies (e.g. virtualization and storage platforms)
- Hands-on experience with enterprise server hardware
- Expertise in backup, disaster recovery, and patch management solutions
- Proficiency with Active Directory, DNS/DHCP, certificates and domain services integration with Windows Server architecture
- Knowledge of OT security practices, hardening, and system monitoring
- Experience with security solutions and infrastructure monitoring tools
- Cybersecurity best practices for server environments
- Automation skills are a plus (e.g. PowerShell scripts)
