OFFSHORE Field Engineer (Sting Ray/ Solitaire) (Back to Back Position)
Location: Afungi, Mozambique (Rotational)Contract Type & Length: 12-Month Contract (Possible Renewal)
Rotation: 28 days on, 28 days off (7 days per week, 12 hours per day)
Target Start Date: ASAP
Key Responsibilities
- Work in shifts on the S-lay pipelay vessel, supporting the technical appraisal and supervision of pipelay operations during preparation and installation phases.
- Ensure project execution aligns with approved procedures and drawings, capturing deviations via Management of Change processes.
- Provide installation engineering support during campaigns, interfacing with engineering, operations, HSE, and QAQC teams.
- Participate in technical reviews, HAZID/SIMOPS, and change management, ensuring adherence to technical and HSE safety protocols.
- Monitor and oversee contractor's completion process and report daily progress to the lead and incoming shift personnel.
- Participate in installation risk assessments and implement mitigation measures in coordination with risk management teams.
- Supply verified information to reporting systems for full tracking of installation events and help mitigate potential change orders.
- Develop and maintain strong working relationships with operations teams on the vessels.
- Monitor and witness offshore installation activities, ensuring compliance with requirements.
- Report technical issues to the vessel lead and installation manager for documentation review or during progress meetings.
- Liaise with project team specialists and third parties as required.
- Contribute to lessons learned and project close-out reports.
- Act as back-to-back for CSR during extended witness operations.
- Support the preparation and safe, on-schedule, quality execution of pipelay campaigns.
- Ensure regulatory duties are fulfilled in coordination with compliance coordinators.
Requirements
- Degree in Engineering or similar discipline.
- Minimum 10 years' experience in the Oil & Gas industry with offshore technical, quality, and HSE oversight.
- At least 5 years of offshore installation experience using S-lay technique.
- Experience managing offshore installation contractors and supporting inspection services and HSE oversight onboard vessels.
- Ability to work effectively in high-stress, fast-paced, international, and multi-cultural environments.
- Strong multi-tasking skills and ability to manage interfaces between multiple contractors.
- Accountability for area of work and delivery of responsibilities.
- Willingness to support back-to-back coverage during leave periods.
- Ability to travel internationally (USA, Europe, Mozambique).
- Fluency in English.
- Current BOSIET and OGUK Medical certification required prior to mobilization offshore.
- Fitness to work assessment required (OGUK accredited, may require annual renewal).
