Installation Project Manager

The Opportunity
We are seeking an Installation Project Manager to join a leading international offshore engineering and energy company in Rotterdam. You will be responsible for the successful delivery of installation projects, supporting both internal and external client assignments. This senior position requires strong leadership, commercial awareness, and the ability to coordinate multidisciplinary and multicultural teams across complex offshore projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Take overall responsibility for the successful delivery of assigned installation projects from project handover through to offshore completion.
- Lead project planning, execution, and close-out activities.
- Develop and maintain detailed project plans, schedules, budgets, and resource plans.
- Coordinate project resources to ensure activities are delivered against agreed objectives.
- Work closely with Installation Engineering, Procurement, Operations, and other project functions to ensure effective integration of project activities.
- Monitor project progress against scope, schedule, budget, and quality requirements.
- Identify project risks, issues, and potential delays and implement appropriate mitigation strategies.
- Ensure installation activities are carried out in accordance with applicable industry standards, safety regulations, environmental requirements, and company procedures.
- Lead and coordinate multidisciplinary and multicultural project teams.
- Manage relationships with key stakeholders including clients, contractors, subcontractors, regulatory authorities, and internal project teams.
- Ensure effective communication between all project stakeholders throughout the project lifecycle.
- Monitor project financial performance and ensure effective cost control.
- Prepare and present regular project status reports, financial updates, progress reports, and risk assessments to senior management.
- Support project decision-making and ensure issues are escalated and resolved in a timely manner.
- Maintain a strong focus on HSSE, quality, and operational excellence.
- Promote lessons learned and continuous improvement across installation projects.
- Ensure successful project handover and completion of offshore installation activities.
Requirements
- Master's degree in Engineering, Project Management, or a related technical discipline.
- Minimum 10 years' experience within the energy industry.
- Proven experience delivering complex projects involving multiple stakeholders and challenging deadlines.
- Demonstrable understanding of installation projects and offshore project execution.
- Experience managing multidisciplinary project teams and contractors.
- Strong understanding of project planning, scheduling, cost control, and risk management.
- Good knowledge of recognised project management methodologies.
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate and coordinate multidisciplinary and multicultural teams.
- Excellent problem-solving and decision-making capabilities.
- Strong communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills.
- Ability to operate effectively in a fast-paced, technically complex project environment.
- Strong commitment to safety, quality, and continuous improvement.
Desirable
- PMP or equivalent project management certification.
- Previous experience within offshore installation, subsea, marine, or floating production projects.
- Experience working with international clients, contractors, and regulatory bodies.
- Experience managing projects from engineering through to offshore execution and completion.
- Previous experience within an EPC/EPCI or offshore engineering environment.
