Job Description
The Head of Business Applications is responsible for leading the planning, development, enhancement, and support of business applications, ensuring they effectively meet organizational needs and align with industry best practices.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee research into business requirements and technical specifications, gather requirements for application development and enhancement tasks, and provide feedback to the IT Manager regarding potential optimization.
- Identify opportunities for continuous improvement of IT systems, processes, and practices, taking into account international best practices, business process improvement, cost reduction, and productivity enhancement.
- Oversee application maintenance and enhancement initiatives, ensuring all activities are carried out within agreed timeframes.
- Oversee the development, upgrading, enhancement, and maintenance of applications, ensuring availability of required functionality and content as per given technical requirements.
- Collate and analyze customized reports based on user needs and extract data for ad hoc reports not available in standard functionality, as provided by the team. Develop reports for the IT Manager based on this information.
- Analyze and identify areas and processes with potential for automation via software applications.
- Oversee all application quality testing and debugging activities and resolve specific user problems where needed.
- Lead application testing efforts to ensure all relevant tests are conducted thoroughly and resolve any issues identified during the testing phase.
- Supervise third-party service providers in the development of specific applications and/or application functionality as assigned by the IT Manager.
- Coordinate with various application vendors for new licenses, annual maintenance agreements, renewals, upgrades, bug fixing, and issue escalations.
- Review and recommend the feasibility of new technological platforms, and evaluate and negotiate with potential service providers and partners to ensure the organization remains relevant and competitive in the marketplace.
- Oversee general IT support, including development of policies and procedures, budget input, monthly reports, and technical support to employees when required, and coordinate with the rest of the IT team to ensure timely delivery of IT support.
- Perform any other related duties as assigned by the IT Manager, in accordance with the provisions of the labor law.
- Comply with ISO 9001:2015 QMS requirements in applicable job areas and functions.
