About the Opportunity
A leading international energy organisation is preparing for a major planned shutdown and overhaul of a large-scale power generation facility in Belgium. This significant maintenance event is scheduled for summer 2027 and requires an experienced Electrical, Instrumentation and Automation professional to support the planning, coordination and execution of shutdown activities.
The role will be performed within an operational power generation environment where maintenance, modification and project activities are being undertaken simultaneously, with a strong focus on safety, operational reliability and minimising plant downtime.
Key Responsibilities
Working closely with the Shutdown Manager, you will support the preparation, coordination and monitoring of all electrical, instrumentation and automation maintenance activities associated with the major outage.
Responsibilities will include:

Preparing and monitoring maintenance activities involving motors, transformers, sensors, thermocouples, PLCs and associated equipment.

Coordinating routine maintenance activities scheduled within the outage scope.

Supporting the evaluation and implementation of improvement projects, opportunity works and feasibility studies.

Managing work permit preparation, coordination and follow-up throughout planning and execution phases.

Coordinating internal and external teams involved in shutdown activities.

Monitoring schedules and ensuring availability of spare parts and materials.

Liaising with procurement teams regarding purchase orders, contractor services and supplier quotations.

Planning testing requirements and lockout/tagout activities.

Supporting the provision and availability of plant systems and electrical circuits required for maintenance activities.

Reviewing technical proposals and providing informed recommendations.

Producing daily progress reports and maintaining accurate maintenance documentation.

Ensuring intervention reports and technical records are updated.

Supporting post-outage reviews and identifying opportunities for continuous improvement.
Stakeholder Engagement
The successful candidate will work closely with a broad range of site stakeholders, including senior management, operations, maintenance and project teams.
Key objectives will include:

Monitoring overall shutdown progress and identifying potential delays.

Participating in daily coordination and planning meetings.

Supporting operational teams with permit management and upcoming work activities.

Assisting with feasibility studies and Management of Change (MOC) processes during the outage.
Requirements
Essential
-
Fluent English and French (written and spoken).
-
Strong background in Electrical Engineering.
-
Experience in Instrumentation and Control Systems.
-
Automation and Industrial Control Systems knowledge.
-
Maintenance planning and execution experience.
-
Basic understanding of lifting operations.

Industrial site or construction environment experience.
Desirable
-
CMMS (Computerised Maintenance Management System) experience.

AutoCAD knowledge.
Education & Experience
-
Degree-qualified in Engineering, Energy, Industrial Engineering or a related discipline; or
-
Experienced Technician with significant relevant industry experience.
Candidates should demonstrate a senior or experienced level of expertise within industrial maintenance, shutdowns, turnarounds or power generation environments.
