Job Description
Project Context
- A combined cycle gas turbine plant in Marchienne-au-Pont, Belgium, will undergo a major overhaul in the summer of 2027.
- The shutdown work is already being prepared in the power plant that is in operation and will be carried out in a context of intense activities (Maintenance, Modifications, and Projects) in compliance with stringent safety requirements.
- Maintenance activities are limited to a maximum duration to minimize unavailability on the electricity network.
Goals and Deliverables
The service provider supports the Shutdown Manager to prepare, coordinate, and monitor mechanical maintenance activities for the overhaul. Key deliverables include but are not limited to:
- Preparation and monitoring of activities (pumps, valves, structures, hydraulics, pneumatics, etc.):
- Normal maintenance activities planned within the scope of the overhaul
- Additional opportunity activities, improvement projects, feasibility studies
- Preparation, coordination, and follow-up of work permits (including the execution phase)
- Preparation, coordination, and follow-up of the teams involved
- Monitoring of the activity schedule, including follow-up of spare parts for interventions
- Coordination with the Purchasing department for orders, follow-up of services, and comparison of offers received
- Testing requirements and lockout/release steps
- Provision of the circuitry and systems of the units
- Assessment of additional work, exercising critical judgment (in agreement with the Head of Judgment)
- Reporting of daily activities, follow-up of documentation (intervention reports, compliance, document updates)
- Feedback on the shutdown and areas for improvement
The resource will interact with a broad team scope on-site (Site Director, Maintenance Manager, Operations Manager, Shutdown Manager, Operations Managers, etc.) on a daily basis. The objectives of these interactions are to:
- Track daily progress of the shutdown (including identification of possible delays)
- Attend daily work coordination meetings to assess progress and manage co-activities
- Support operations managers in the follow-up of permits in relation to upcoming planned activities
- Assist the Stop Manager with feasibility studies for opportunity projects and management of change monitoring during the Major Overhaul
Expected Deliverables
The contractor will support the Outage Manager in preparing, coordinating, and monitoring mechanical maintenance activities. Non-exhaustive deliverables include:
- Preparation and monitoring of activities (pumps, valves, structures, hydraulics, pneumatics, etc.):
- Planned maintenance activities within the outage scope
- Additional opportunity work, improvement projects, and feasibility studies
- Preparation and coordination of work permits (including during execution)
- Preparation, coordination, and supervision of intervention teams
- Monitoring activity schedules, including spare parts tracking
- Coordination with Procurement for orders, service follow-up, and bid comparisons
- Definition of testing requirements and isolation/de-isolation steps
- Availability of circuits and systems
- Assessment of additional work with critical judgment (in agreement with the Outage Manager)
- Daily activity reporting and documentation follow-up (intervention reports, compliance, updates)
- Feedback and lessons learned from the outage, including improvement actions
Requirements
Education & Experience:
- Master's degree (Engineering in Energy/Industry) or experienced technician
- Senior/experienced profile required
- CMMS knowledge preferred
- AutoCAD preferred
Technical Experience:
- Mechanical engineering (thermodynamics, fluid mechanics)
- Maintenance
