E&I Quantity Surveyor

Working Location: Normandy, France

Site-based, 5 days per week (flexibility required)

Contract Type: Contract (3-5 months with possibility of extension, immediate mobilisation)

Job Brief

We are currently seeking a highly experienced E&I Quantity Surveyor to support construction activities on a major project based in Normandy, France.

In this role, you will be responsible for managing and validating quantities related to Electrical & Instrumentation (E&I) works on site. You will work closely with subcontractors, construction teams, and engineering to ensure accurate measurement, reporting, and cost control across the project.

The ideal candidate will bring strong site-based construction experience, with the ability to confidently navigate 3D models and drawings to verify installed works and challenge subcontractor quantities where necessary. This is a hands-on role requiring regular site walkdowns, including working at height (piperacks and scaffolding).

This is a short-term, high-impact assignment requiring immediate mobilisation and a proactive, detail-oriented professional.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform quantity surveying activities for Electrical & Instrumentation (E&I) scope on site
  • Review, validate, and challenge subcontractor measurements and progress claims
  • Conduct regular site walkdowns to verify installed quantities and construction status
  • Compare installed works against drawings, specifications, and 3D models
  • Identify discrepancies between design, installation, and reported quantities
  • Utilize 3D model navigation tools to support measurement verification and analysis
  • Provide accurate quantity take-offs and reporting to support cost control and commercial functions
  • Liaise with subcontractors and construction teams to resolve measurement and scope issues
  • Support evaluation of variations, change orders, and claims related to E&I scope
  • Maintain clear and accurate documentation and reporting of site measurements
  • Ensure compliance with project HSE requirements, including safe execution of elevated inspections

Requirements and Skills

  • Proven experience as an E&I Quantity Surveyor or similar role within industrial construction projects
  • Strong background in Electrical & Instrumentation construction environments
  • Demonstrated experience reviewing and validating subcontractor quantities and measurements
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, schematics, and 3D models
  • Hands-on experience with 3D model platforms and tools
  • Comfortable performing site inspections at height (piperacks, scaffolding, etc.)
  • Strong analytical skills with high attention to detail
  • Ability to work independently and confidently challenge contractors when required
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
  • Fluent in English (mandatory)
  • French language skills are highly desirable
