CSA Construction Manager

Key Responsibilities

• Take overall responsibility for coordinating all Civil, Structural and Architectural (CSA) construction packages across the project.
• Lead, manage, and provide guidance to the CSA delivery team, including engineers, supervisors, and package leads, ensuring successful execution within a technically demanding, fast-paced environment.
• Oversee site safety requirements in collaboration with the Project Manager and dedicated Health & Safety personnel.
• Promote and maintain high standards across Quality, Health & Safety, and Environmental performance, ensuring these principles are embedded throughout the CSA team and supply chain.
• Coordinate and track CSA activities across procurement, engineering, design development, and construction/installation.
• Establish the delivery approach and execution plan for the CSA scope. Work alongside the commercial function in developing work scopes, tender documentation, and subcontract packages for supplier enquiries and appointments.
• Assess client design information against project requirements and applicable local/international standards, identifying inconsistencies and driving them through to resolution. Ensure the contractor's contractual and commercial interests are appropriately safeguarded.
• Work closely with QA/QC representatives to establish and implement a comprehensive site-based Quality Assurance and Quality Control plan, ensuring the required level of project compliance.
• Direct daily CSA construction activities and manage subcontractor performance on site, with particular focus on safe working practices, quality, and delivery.
• Coordinate programme performance alongside the planning function, Project Management team, and subcontract partners to ensure delivery remains aligned with key milestones.
• Interface with the design function and Design Manager to identify construction information requirements and prioritise the release of critical information in line with the construction programme.
• Monitor subcontractor delivery, including progress against agreed schedules, manpower levels, and availability of appropriate project resources.
• Lead regular progress and coordination meetings with individual CSA subcontractors and key supply-chain partners.
• Ensure subcontractor records, technical documentation, and project information are maintained accurately, remain current, and are appropriately stored for future reference.
• Participate in project meetings including site coordination sessions, internal project reviews, engineering and design reviews, planning meetings, construction coordination meetings, and handover activities.
• Take responsibility for the completion and close-out of CSA activities, including outstanding works/punch lists, Health & Safety records, QA documentation, and relevant project completion plans.
• Apply a logical and structured approach to resolving technical, design, construction, and site-related challenges.
• Prepare and distribute appropriate daily and weekly progress reporting to members of the Project Management team.
• Support commercial reviews and meetings, ensuring potential variations and scope changes are identified so that the commercial function can correctly administer client changes.
• Review construction drawings, layouts, and setting-out information to verify suitability for site execution.
• Coordinate builder's work requirements associated with MEP services, ensuring interfaces are captured within drawings, construction activities, and relevant work packages.

Requirements

• Degree-level qualification in Construction, Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, or another relevant discipline, or an equivalent level of industry experience.
• Minimum of 7 years' relevant CSA construction experience within a site/project delivery environment.
• Demonstrable experience taking responsibility for and successfully delivering complex Civil, Structural, and Architectural packages.
• Strong technical capability with the ability to retain oversight of the wider project while simultaneously managing detailed construction and engineering matters.
• Good understanding of construction planning, sequencing, and programme management, including preparation and management of 4-week and 12-week look-ahead programmes.
• Proven ability to lead and coordinate multidisciplinary internal construction teams.
• Previous involvement in the successful delivery of major, large-scale construction projects.
