Contracts Lead
Location: Doha, QatarContract Type: Contract
Job Purpose
Manage the EPCI, FEED, and Long Lead Item (LLI) contract process for major offshore projects from contract strategy workshops and contract type selection, through preparation of ITTs, review and evaluation of tender documents, to contract award and day-to-day contract administration. Oversee all post-award activities including preparation of formal correspondences, change orders, claims, and insurance & guarantees administration. Manage contracts and LLIs from award through to completion.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop contracting scenarios to support effective contracting strategy workshops.
- Lead the project management team in preparation of FEED/EPCI/LLI contracts in partnership with Legal and Supply departments.
- Advise on the process to produce technical bid evaluation plans, procedures, and models for evaluating technical bids.
- Coordinate with contractors to ensure that contract terms are fulfilled in compliance with regulations.
- Manage all post-award activities including preparation of formal correspondences, change orders, claims, and insurance & guarantees administration.
- Advise the project management team in handling major change orders and claims, and negotiations with EPC contractors and LLI suppliers, interfacing with Supply and Legal departments as needed.
- Advise on contractor claims and resolve issues on behalf of the company, coordinating on legal issues with Supply and Legal departments.
- Coordinate the transfer of LLI contracts through novation or free issue to the chosen EPIC contractor.
- Advise on breaches of contracts in a timely manner.
- Review contract agreements to identify and recommend amendments and improvements for inclusion in future project contracts.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Accounting, Quantity Surveying, Commercial, Marketing, Sciences, Engineering, Project Management, Supply Chain Management, Law, Communication, Technologies, Mathematics, or Statistics.
- Minimum 8 years of experience in contract management related to EPC contracts, including at least 4 years in the Oil & Gas industry and at least 1 year in a supervisory or oversight role.
- Experience in contract formulation activities, systems, and processes across a broad range of contracts.
- Experience with Oil & Gas companies, EPC contractors, subcontractors, vendors, or service companies involved in the industry.
- Knowledge in project business functions such as planning, scheduling, cost control, estimating, claims management, risk management, change management, procurement, pre- and post-award contract management, and reporting.
- Familiarity with international standards, best practices, and methodologies relevant to business disciplines.
- Subject matter expertise in business discipline.
- Knowledge of relevant business processes and procedures.
- Experience with risk assessment approaches in decision making.
- Strong knowledge of relevant software and computer skills, such as dashboards, data analytics, and ERP systems.
- Experience supporting large-scale integrated operating and executing organizations.
- High level of proficiency in written and spoken English.
- Outstanding negotiation and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to resolve complaints and concerns.
- Excellent attention to detail.
- Computer literacy with regular use of professional office applications.
