Position Overview
Seeking an experienced Construction Superintendent to oversee the field execution of distributed generation solar projects. Responsible for day-to-day site activities, coordinating contractors and subcontractors, monitoring schedule and quality, and ensuring projects are constructed safely and in accordance with project specifications. Ideal candidates have hands-on experience managing the construction of commercial, industrial, community solar, or other distributed generation solar projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee daily construction activities across DG solar project sites.
- Coordinate EPC contractors, subcontractors, vendors, and field personnel.
- Monitor construction progress against project schedules and identify potential delays.
- Ensure work is completed in accordance with drawings, specifications, permits, and project requirements.
- Manage civil, mechanical, and electrical scopes throughout construction.
- Conduct regular site walks and monitor workmanship and overall construction quality.
- Support site safety expectations and ensure contractors comply with project HSE requirements.
- Coordinate deliveries, equipment, materials, and site logistics.
- Track RFIs, punch-list items, change orders, and field issues.
- Provide regular construction progress updates to the Project Manager and internal project team.
- Support commissioning, testing, punch-list completion, and project closeout.
- Manage multiple projects or sites as required.
Qualifications
- 5+ years of construction experience, preferably within solar or renewable energy.
- Previous experience as a Construction Superintendent, Site Superintendent, Construction Manager, or similar field leadership role.
- Strong preference for experience with distributed generation, community solar, C&I solar, or small utility-scale solar projects.
- Understanding of civil, structural, mechanical, and electrical solar construction.
- Experience managing subcontractors and coordinating multiple scopes of work.
- Ability to read construction drawings, site plans, electrical drawings, and project specifications.
- Strong understanding of construction safety and quality requirements.
- Comfortable working independently in a field-based environment.
- Ability to travel between project sites as required.
Preferred Experience
- Ground-mount and rooftop solar construction.
- Projects ranging from approximately 1 MW to 20 MW.
- Community solar and commercial/industrial projects.
- Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) experience is a plus.
- OSHA 30 certification preferred.
