Position Overview

An experienced HSE Consultant is required to support the construction of a utility-scale Solar/BESS project. The consultant will provide on-site health, safety, and environmental oversight, working closely with the project team, EPC contractor, and subcontractors to ensure safe execution throughout construction and commissioning.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide day-to-day HSE oversight across utility-scale Solar and BESS construction activities.
  • Monitor EPC contractors and subcontractors for compliance with project HSE requirements and applicable OSHA regulations.
  • Conduct daily site walks, safety observations, audits, and inspections.
  • Participate in daily pre-task planning, toolbox talks, and Job Hazard Analyses (JHAs/JSAs).
  • Identify unsafe conditions or behaviors and work with site leadership to implement corrective actions.
  • Support incident and near-miss investigations, including root-cause analysis and corrective action tracking.
  • Review contractor safety documentation, procedures, permits, and site-specific safety plans.
  • Monitor high-risk activities including electrical work, energized systems, lifting/rigging, excavation, working at heights, and heavy equipment operations.
  • Provide HSE oversight during BESS installation, energization, and commissioning activities.
  • Maintain accurate safety documentation, inspection records, and incident reporting.
  • Participate in project HSE meetings and communicate trends, concerns, and recommendations to project leadership.
  • Promote a strong safety culture across all contractors and personnel on site.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of HSE/Safety experience within heavy construction, power generation, or renewable energy projects.
  • Previous experience supporting utility-scale Solar and/or BESS construction projects strongly preferred.
  • Strong working knowledge of OSHA construction standards and industry safety practices.
  • Experience overseeing EPC contractors and multiple subcontractors on active construction sites.
  • Familiarity with electrical safety, LOTO, NFPA 70E, and energization/commissioning activities preferred.
  • OSHA 30 required or strongly preferred.
  • CHST, CSP, ASP, or similar safety certification is beneficial.
  • Strong communication, documentation, and contractor-management skills.
  • Ability to work full-time on site and support the project through construction and commissioning.
