Civil and Structural Engineer
Location: Kuala Lumpur, MalaysiaEmployment Type: Permanent, full time

Role Purpose
Provide civil and structural engineering for high-voltage substations and transmission infrastructure on Australian projects. Work may include earthworks, drainage, roads, foundations, buildings, equipment support structures, and transmission structures.
Experience Level
Applications are welcome from graduate, intermediate, senior, and lead-level engineers. Duties and checking authority will reflect experience.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop civil and structural designs from concept through detailed and construction stages.
- Prepare calculations, specifications, reports, drawings, and design inputs for earthworks, drainage, pavements, foundations, buildings, and steel or concrete structures.
- Design substation equipment foundations, cable trenches, retaining structures, and supporting infrastructure.
- Coordinate geotechnical, survey, electrical, architectural, and construction interfaces.
- Assess loads, serviceability, durability, constructability, and temporary or permanent design risks.
- Review models and drawings and respond to client, vendor, and construction queries.
- Participate in interdisciplinary reviews and apply project quality and checking procedures.
- For senior appointments, lead packages, check work, and mentor developing engineers.
Qualifications and Experience
- Degree in Civil or Structural Engineering.
- Relevant design experience appropriate to the level of appointment.
- Sound understanding of reinforced concrete, structural steel, foundations, and civil infrastructure.
- Capability with engineering calculations and recognised analysis or design software.
- Ability to interpret geotechnical information and coordinate multidisciplinary interfaces.
- Good written and spoken English.
Desirable Experience
- Experience in substations, transmission lines, utilities, industrial facilities, or other heavy infrastructure.
- Knowledge of Australian Standards or transferable international codes.
- Experience with software such as SpaceGass, STAAD.Pro, ETABS, SAP2000, Civil 3D, or similar.
Working Environment
This is a permanent, office-based position in Kuala Lumpur. The successful candidate will work as part of an international engineering team, with most assignments supporting power infrastructure projects in Australia. Some collaboration outside standard Malaysian office hours may occasionally be required to support project meetings and deadlines.
