Sr. Offshore Surveyor Engineer

Qualification

  • Bachelor Degree / Post Graduate Diploma in Hydrographic Surveying or equivalent.

Experience

  • Minimum 12 years' experience in the Oil & Gas industry on offshore topographic survey operations.
  • At least 7 years as Party Chief Surveyor on a major project with a reputable Survey Contractor, EPIC Contractor, or Oil & Gas Company.
  • Fully familiar with international surveying codes, standards, techniques, survey software, and with FEED/EPIC deliverables, equipment, design, and construction progress reviews.
  • Experienced in industry best practices and company systems, processes, and standards.
  • Proficient knowledge of Offshore Surveying with strong technical, communication, and presentation skills.
  • Project management, conflict resolution, and negotiation skills.
  • Good understanding of safety, environmental, and QA/QC requirements and implications of non-compliance.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

  • Identify, plan, and programme offshore surveying activities including geophysical, geotechnical, ROV, and oceanographic surveys; define, contract, execute, and accept offshore survey data.
  • Ensure safe execution of offshore surveying and data acquisition activities.
  • Define, monitor, and ensure standards and quality of offshore survey processes and alignment with company objectives.
  • Support short- and long-term offshore survey requirements across offshore fields and provide end-user technical support.
  • Support selection of suitable survey equipment, field devices, and systems and evaluate techno-economic options.
  • Prepare project-specific survey scopes, tender/procurement inputs, and technical bid evaluation criteria; participate in bid evaluations.
  • Coordinate survey activities connected with FEED/EPIC contracts and resolve survey-related technical queries.
  • Control and witness mobilisation of survey vessels and equipment calibration; evaluate and approve equipment and personnel.
  • Monitor contractors/subcontractors acquiring survey data and ensure data meets approved specifications and quality plans.
  • Review and approve survey deliverables for offshore engineering/construction activities and manage geo-referenced databases/GIS data integrity.
  • Provide survey technical input during FEED, detailed engineering, pre/post-installation, and as-built stages and monitor QA/QC implementation.
  • Support Safety and Design Reviews with Lead Engineers and stakeholders.
  • Support development of local nationals through appropriate job training and development.
