Senior Mechanical Designer
Location: Perth, AustraliaContract Type: 1 year contract with high likelihood of extension or renewal
Key Responsibilities
- Develop detailed mechanical designs for major iron ore processing and materials handling facilities.
- Produce and review mechanical design packages, layouts, drawings, and associated project documentation.
- Support the design of crushing, screening, conveying, stockyard, and fixed plant infrastructure.
- Develop practical design solutions that consider constructability, maintainability, safety, and operational requirements.
- Coordinate closely with mechanical engineers and other engineering/design disciplines.
- Participate in multidisciplinary 3D model and design reviews.
- Ensure designs comply with project specifications, standards, and client requirements.
- Resolve design interfaces and technical issues throughout project delivery.
- Liaise with engineering, project, and construction teams to ensure designs meet schedule and execution requirements.
- Provide design support during project execution and construction activities where required.
Requirements
- Approximately 10-15 years of Mechanical Design experience within mining and resources.
- A minimum of 2 continuous years working on a major iron ore project within the last 5 years.
- Demonstrated experience across iron ore processing, bulk materials handling, crushing, conveying, screening, stockyards, and/or fixed plant infrastructure.
- Strong experience producing detailed mechanical design packages and associated documentation.
- Proficiency with relevant 3D modelling and mechanical design software.
- Strong understanding of project delivery within major mining environments.
- Ability to work effectively within multidisciplinary engineering and design teams.
- Strong communication, coordination, and stakeholder engagement skills.
Highly Desirable
- Previous experience working on major Pilbara iron ore developments.
- Experience across greenfield developments, brownfield expansions, sustaining capital projects, bulk materials handling systems, fixed plant processing facilities, and construction/site support.
