Senior Contract Engineer - Business Services

Location: Afungi, Mozambique
Contract Type: Annually Renewable Contract
Rotation: 4 weeks on, 4 weeks off (7 days per week, 8 hours per day)
Start Date: ASAP

Key Responsibilities

  • Participate in Contracts and Procurement processes, working closely with stakeholders to create contract dossiers and define contractual responsibilities.
  • Develop Contracting Strategies and issue Calls for Tenders to source suitable expertise for various functions.
  • Negotiate and analyze commercial bids, and develop Recommendations to Award (RTA).
  • Ensure all insurance issues related to assets and personnel are addressed.
  • Monitor performance using KPIs and ensure contract management tools are updated.
  • Stay informed of best practices in contract procedures for continuous improvement.
  • Utilize existing frame agreements where applicable.
  • Prepare and maintain up-to-date lists of qualified contractors, suppliers, and potential tenders for market studies and analysis.
  • Lead the presentation of RTAs to the Contracts Committee or appropriate approver.
  • Establish technical contracts and agreements, directly participating in the most complex contracts.
  • Conduct commercial bid analysis and negotiations, defining responsibilities and documentation.
  • Take a leading role in Recommendations to Award through Contracts Committee/DOA.
  • Ensure contract handover to partners and monitor contractor performance.
  • Assist management in the settlement of claims and lawsuits by proposing strategies and participating in negotiations.
  • Monitor ongoing contract status and participate in contract renewal and amendment discussions.

Requirements

  • Education: Master's Degree
  • Experience: 10-15 years professional experience (minimum 2 years in technical contracts domain) with exposure to operations and international experience
  • Skills:
    • Advanced negotiation skills
    • Cross-functional stakeholder management
    • Management of contract portfolios of comparable value
    • Contract handover and performance monitoring
    • Experience with LNG technical/complex contracts
    • Presentation of Recommendations to Award
    • Problem solving, planning, organizing, and coordinating
    • Experience with construction services contracts
    • Commercial bid analysis and negotiation
    • Contract drafting and review (T&Cs, SoW, pricing schedules)
    • Claims and disputes settlement experience
    • Advanced contracts and procurement technical competencies
    • Advanced certification in contracts and procurement tools
    • Good command of English
    • Mandatory capacity to train newly recruited personnel with induction
  • Personal Abilities: Advanced management, human relations, problem solving, planning, organizing, coordinating, and controlling. Excellent negotiation skills and understanding of core operational activities.
