Job Description
A Senior Flow Assurance Engineer is required to support worldwide oil and gas projects, providing technical leadership within the Flow Assurance discipline. As part of the project engineering group based in Basingstoke (UK), you will support Flow Assurance activities in the different phases of the project, from feasibility to Basic/FEED and throughout the execution phase for several new upcoming or ongoing initiatives. The role may also include supporting Flow Assurance activities for CCUS projects.
Activities will include the assessment and definition of CO₂ transportation systems, evaluation of operating envelopes, and support to studies related to flow assurance challenges.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare all technical documentation related to Flow Assurance activities during different phases of the project, such as Conceptual Study, FEED, Tender and Contract package preparation, detailed engineering, and Operations.
- Follow up Supplier Call for Tender & Selection (qualifications, clarifications, recommendations, etc.) when applicable for Flow Assurance discipline.
- Review and approve FEED, Tender, and Detailed Engineering performed by Contractors when applicable.
- Provide technical support to interface disciplines (Pipelines/Subsea, Process/Facilities, Operations) to ensure integrated solutions.
- Support operations and start-up/commissioning troubleshooting as required.
- Take responsibility for personal flow assurance activities and those of the Flow Assurance team in the role of PDL.
- Work collaboratively with colleagues in the Subsea Systems department, particularly within the Flow Assurance discipline.
- Liaise with other Engineering disciplines during the Project execution phase.
- Manage interfaces with Reservoir and Laboratories.
- Perform the technical and administrative functions of the PDL on complex projects.
- Support the Flow Assurance Coordinator and the Chief of Subsea Systems in the preparation of manhour estimates for new proposals.
- Proactively highlight and estimate any variation of manhours and schedule on a project due to changes in scope.
- Maintain awareness of International Standards & Codes.
- Advise on correct interpretation and application of internal standards and HSEQ policies and develop new ones as required.
- Mentor engineers and contribute to knowledge sharing and continuous improvement.
Requirements:
- Extensive experience as a Flow Assurance Engineer throughout the various phases of project development (from concept development to execution) and handover to operations.
- Graduate-level knowledge of thermodynamics and fluid dynamics.
- Ability to identify, define, and analyse complex multiphase hydrocarbon transportation schemes.
- Capability to perform technical review of Flow Assurance documentation prepared by team members, ensuring technical accuracy and compliance with applicable standards, best practices, and work instructions.
- Proficient in OLGA, PVTSim, Multiflash, Pipenet, Pipesim, Hysys, Unisim.
- Familiarity with programming languages such as Matlab, C++, and Python is an added benefit.
- Experience with Technical Audit and Design & Safety Reviews, HAZOP, HAZIDs, and Risk Assessment.
- Ability to interface and communicate effectively with other staff, outside specialists, shareholders, contractors, and management.
- Strong communication, coordination, and interpersonal skills, including task prioritisation and excellent engineering judgement.
- Understanding of integrated project execution, including planning, HSE, and risk management processes.
- Multidisciplinary collaboration experience.
- Ability to handle highly complex and diverse assignments using independent judgement.
- Desirable: Operational experience; experience in CCUS projects is considered a plus.
