Job Title: Operations Multi Technician - Process

Location: China (Onshore) / Qatar Offshore

Contract Duration: 18 months

Rotation: 28 days on / 28 days off (offshore phase)

Role Overview

The Operations Multi Technician - Process supports commissioning and start-up activities for offshore facilities, working closely with the Start-Up Supervisor and Field Operations team. The role is responsible for ensuring safe and efficient execution of commissioning, operational testing, and start-up readiness leading to first oil.

The position will initially be involved in onshore construction and yard activities before transitioning to offshore rotation during hook-up, commissioning, and start-up phases.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the Start-Up Supervisor during commissioning and start-up activities
  • Witness and assist in execution of Operational Test Procedures (OTP)
  • Participate in commissioning activities including leak tests and function tests
  • Assist in preparation and implementation of start-up procedures and sequences
  • Support activities leading to first oil and operational readiness
  • Assist production teams during commissioning and start-up phases
  • Ensure field operations teams are familiar with procedures and start-up sequences
  • Identify temporary configurations and support spading and isolation plans
  • Participate in risk assessments, HAZID, JSA, and pre-startup safety reviews
  • Attend Permit to Work meetings and support permit preparation
  • Monitor and report progress of start-up activities
  • Support punch list tracking and close-out (Type B & C items)
  • Assist with vendor mobilisation and site readiness
  • Prepare and maintain updated redline P&IDs during construction and commissioning
  • Ensure proper management of isolations, inhibitions, and related documentation
  • Identify and report safety risks, unsafe practices, or equipment issues
  • Support mechanical isolations, de-isolations, and draining procedures
  • Maintain site safety standards including signage, barriers, and SIMOPS controls
  • Assist with first fill operations and commissioning handover activities

Requirements

  • Higher National Diploma or equivalent technical qualification
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in oil and gas production operations
  • Previous offshore operations experience preferred
  • Background as Production Operator or Control Room Operator is advantageous
  • Strong understanding of commissioning and start-up processes
  • Familiarity with PTW systems, SIMOPS, and safety procedures
  • Ability to read and update P&IDs and technical documentation
  • Strong operational awareness and ability to work independently
  • Good communication skills in English (written and spoken)
  • Computer literate

Technical Knowledge

  • Strong knowledge of pumps, valves, compressors, and rotating equipment
  • Understanding of mechanical systems including alignment of shafts and pumps
  • Experience in production operations and process systems

Certifications

  • T-BOSIET and OPITO H2S certification required
  • Basic firefighting certification
  • PTW and JSA awareness training
  • Confined Space Entry and Authorized Gas Tester certification
  • Lifting and rigging training
  • Manual handling training
  • Radiation protection awareness
  • Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) awareness
