JOB PURPOSE
The Project Director will lead and manage all phases of offshore projects in deep water environments. This role requires a strategic thinker with extensive experience in project management within the oil and gas sector, particularly in complex offshore projects. The post holder is responsible to ensure project delivery and execution is completed safely within allocated time and cost.
KEY ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Execute the project in a safe manner, meeting contract requirements, client specifications, industry norms, and company policies.
2. Participate in preparing the commercial and technical proposals during the tender stage.
3. Prepare the control budget to execute the work, optimizing against the project execution budget from the proposal or tender stage. Identify potential overruns and develop mitigation plans.
4. Review the overall project contract and requirements to clearly understand the project scope, expectations, and deliverables.
5. Strategize the execution plan for the project to ensure all key success factors and risks are duly incorporated into the plan.
6. Manage project execution to avoid delays, standbys, and inefficiencies caused by lack of approvals, improper execution methods, unavailability of materials, client changes, etc. Organize readiness reviews prior to work execution and closely monitor the schedule to anticipate issues and identify mitigation.
7. Ensure all instructions and issues highlighted by clients via letter, email, verbal communication, etc. are attended to, addressed, and closed in a manner acceptable to both company and client.
8. Establish and maintain appropriate channels of communication among project members to ensure important and accurate information is shared with the right stakeholders.
9. Participate in safety initiatives and campaigns, promoting a safety mindset and culture among project members and workers to enhance safety awareness and safe working behavior.
10. Manage project stakeholders internally and externally to ensure they receive sufficient and accurate information about the project.
11. Lead relevant project meetings within the company and with clients to provide and receive updates on key project highlights.
12. Oversee and manage overall project resources to ensure adequacy and availability throughout the project cycle.
13. Establish and maintain rapport with relevant parties, including functional heads of department and team leaders, to enhance working relationships and ensure smooth project execution.
14. Oversee overall performance of the project team and provide support and assistance to ensure performance is maintained.
15. When suitable, oversee more than one project, with the Project Manager of each overseen project reporting directly to the Project Director.

QUALIFICATIONS / CERTIFICATIONS
- Degree in Engineering (Civil, Mechanical, Mechatronics, Electrical) from a recognized higher learning institution.
- Registered with the relevant national engineering board.

RELEVANT EXPERIENCE
- Minimum of 25 years working experience in the oil and gas industry, with at least 3 years in a similar position.
- Preferably with experience in offshore installation and related projects.
